Tis the season to be jolly - before you are crushed under the weight of all that rubbish and recycling material you will undoubtedly accumulate over the Christmas and New Year period.
But hark! Though Santa's sleigh will be on time - assuming he's found a way to get down the chimney or through the front door to drop off presents and snaffled a mince pie or six along with a glass of sherry - the beeping of a reversing refuse lorry may be a little later than usual.
Each year the council has to remind residents that, just like them, refuse collectors will be taking a well-earned rest over the festive season and as a result some the collection rounds have to be rejigged to accommodate this.
Of course no-one wants their bin filled with wrapping paper, mountains of bubble-wrap and turkey carcasses, leftover spuds and gravy any longer than possible, so please take note of the slight changes in bin collection days, because those seagulls can spot a good dinner nestling in an overflowing bin from a mile off, and you know what a mess they leave behind.

Christmas trees
Once again Plymouth City Council has said it will not be running Christmas tree collection points, primarily because it was not well used in the past. again this year and in previous years. Instead, it said it will be putting the resource into other services which are valued by residents.
If you have a live/real Christmas tree you can take them to Chelson Meadow Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
Just to state the obvious, but Chelson Meadow will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Other opening days and times remain the same.
Weston Mill operates Friday to Monday so is unaffected by Christmas this year.
