hi there,
well i had trouble with a hdpe former myself. it was 12"
diameter thick walled so to lift it i had to hug the coil as it was so
heavy. needless to say this seriously hurt when i got a shock!!!! no more
huggin coils for me!
cheers

Secondary shocks seem to be more common than thought... I have an 8"X32"
secondary ( wound on lexan tube) that IS notorious for being able to
deliver TASER like pulses if handled wrong... One evening I had ( this
is before encountering its wrath) grabbed the secondary with both hands
and lifted it from its mount... the bottom lead wire was hanging freely
and had come in contact with my upper right thigh... needless to say, the
shock was severe enough to cause my right leg to go into a semi-paralysis
state. I dropped to the ground and had lost all function in the right leg
for several minutes... it was difficult to explain to the wife that
everything was OK as I floundered around on the ground for that moment...
the weird part of this situation was several nites later when I had run
the BIGPIG coil and the lexan 8" was sitting on the workbench... I had
left a kitchen towel next to the 8"er ( the kind of towel with the frizzly
ends)... I had returned to the workshop to notice the towel's frizzy ends
extending towards the secondary and then suddenly relax and then to slowly
extend again towards the secondary.... this went on for several
minutes.... my thoughts were that the BIGPIG's output charged the 8"
secondary to such a degree that is was possible for this to happen...
I'll leave the rest of the thought process up to the thinkers... I'm
going to avoid the 8" secondary for a while after running any of my coils...

Hi All,
I have gotten shocks from every coil I have had. From 15" on down.
After running a while, I wipe them down with one hand and have the other
hand touching the torrid. That will get rid of the built up static and
no more shocks.
