If you’re currently thinking about ways you can move out of the United States, Eva Longoria already has you beat. The actress told Marie Claire that she and her family have already ditched this “dystopian” country, opting instead to split their time between Spain and Mexico. Must be nice.
“I had my whole adult life here,” Longoria told the magazine, referencing Los Angeles. “But even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to shit on California — it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”
Those are kind of conservative complaints for the famous Democrat to be making on the record, but maybe she’s just been spending a lot of time with her friends Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos. While the Amazon founder wasted no time at all sucking up to Donald Trump, his pal Longoria is afraid of what might happen in a second term. “I would like to think our fight continues,” she said, before noting, “If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.”
Luckily for her, she won’t be here to see it. Longoria isn’t completely out of touch, though — she did at least acknowledge that most of us will be stuck here for the next four years.
“I’m privileged,” she said. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
Thank you for thinking of us, Eva Longoria.
