Melania Trump really has no interest in doing the First Lady thing again. To be fair, it’s not like it went swimmingly for her the first time. Earlier this week, she declined the traditional invitation from Jill Biden to meet at the White House while their husbands had their photo op in the Oval Office. Now, a source is telling the New York Post that Melania is going to be the first “part-time First Lady.” Do you think she’ll still get benefits, or is that for full-time only?
“Melania will be the First Lady, but only on her terms,” the source told the Post, adding, “She’ll do the big events. But no ladies’ tea and no — or very few — interviews.” They explained that Melania’s plan is simply to add the White House to her list of residences; she’ll spend time there when she isn’t in New York or Florida.
The main Trump man Melania is focused on isn’t Donald, but Barron. The source said that she can’t be in Washington, D.C., all the time, because her primary concern is being “the hands-on mother to Barron that she is.” Barron is an 18-year-old NYU freshman, so I’m sure he’s very happy that his mom is sticking around to keep an eye on him.
“Melania will be a part-time First Lady — while being a full-time mother and wife,” the source explained. “She views winning as the main show, and the rest she’ll do as she pleases.” It’s nice to hear that the White House has such a flexible return-to-office plan!
