Arklow Bay Hotel

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our trip around part of the wild atlantic way and then again for a night at the end. Lovely bedrooms although we had a problem flushing the toilet on the first night but someone came to sort it out that night. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant there on all 3 evenings and had a delicious meal each time for a reasonable price. Breakfast was a buffet - there was a hot buffet with a cooked breakfast and choices of pastries and fruit juices and you could order different items from the kitchen We will definitely stay there again if we're back in the area

We stayed for one night. For a very expensive hotel it was very poor value. Bed was hard as where the rock hard pillows. Blind on window fell down crash as I was unfurling it. Bed sheet was torn. When you opened the drawer of the table it nearly toppled over. No bin in bathroom and no sign of hairdryer. We ordered breakfast for two of us in restaurant and both came on one plate. When my partner complained one poached egg on a plate came back much later!!! Coffee was good although they charged for seconds ( which we didn’t mind). Overall a rather tacky “Fawlty Towers” experience for top money charged!!! Also very steep stairs to rooms and no lift!!!

I can’t say enough nice things about this place, it is just dreamy! Imagine a romantic country manor with red creeping ivy and little chickens running about the place.. a garden marquis with a small fire pit to warm your hands in the centre, of course a babbling brook with a little chapel across its bridge, a luxurious spa area with outdoor jacuzzi for morning dips, an organic free range restaurant The Strawberry Tree serving the finest freshest of ingredients picked from their own onsite organic farm, an authentic little Italian restaurant Armento serving large comforting plates of Italian anti pasti & pasta dishes & meats, the warm welcome of Acton’s bar a traditional Irish tavern serving fine pints of Guinness or Vitamin G as I like to call it & delicious gastro pub cuisine, their Waterside lounge that serves a sophisticated afternoon tea, The warm cosy rooms, and of course last but definitely not least the Fabulous Engaging Wonderful Friendly Staff who are at the heart of this establishment and are the reason we would always return.

A highly recommended gem of a hotel. Fabulous location on the foot of the Wicklow mountains, close to the Sugar Loaf mountain, Glendalough, Powerscourt Waterfall, Ireland hugest pub and the beaches of the east coast. Stayed for two nights recently, upon arrival we were met by a very friendly and helpful guy Jude at reception who couldn’t do enough to make us feel at home from the moment we set foot inside the main door. Our room was amazing, spacious, clean, and very comfortable with thermostat regulated AC heating. We were there celebrating our wedding anniversary, when we got to our room on both days we were met by a really nice surprise waiting on the table for us. After arrival on the first day we went to the bar for a bite of lunch where we were once again made to feel like royalty. It was so refreshing to experience staff who genuinely cared for their guests and wanted nothing but the best for them. I have yet to visit a hospitality sector establishment in Ireland where the staff are so attentive to their customers needs. Other customer focused businesses could learn a thing or two by paying Glenview a visit. We went to the Woodlands restaurant for dinner on the second night and once again the service was amazing, the food throughout our stay was second to none and I have to give the Chefs credit for the lamb curry. It was an actual proper Indian curry not an Irish restaurant”s version of an Indian curry…bravo chefs! They had music entertainment on both nights in the bar, the guy on the second night put on a hell of an entertainment show with his saxophone, flute and thin whistle. A very entertaining night with something for all ages. Overall I would recommend a stay at the Glenview hotel to anyone who cared to listen. Already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you to all the staff and management for making us feel so welcome and sharing in our wedding anniversary celebration.
Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort

Unfriendly front desk, young female with glasses was having a bad day. Managed to get checked in with little to no interaction/information. With two separate interactions, it didn’t improve (key card failed and needed reprogramming). Same experience the second occasion. Room was fine. Basic, ground floor, over warm. But I was able to turn off the radiator and open the window to cool it down. Not particularly comfortable to sit and watch tv in the room. Shower in room 101 was significantly broken - water flowed down as normal, but as head was broken it also sprays strongly into your face and up in the air over the glass into the floor. Could use replacing. Went to the bar for food. Seating was set up for groups of 4+. Other than the bar itself, there was no 2-top table to sit at. Staff were helpful and attentive. Food was very hot and fresh. Breakfast was the poorest offering I think I’ve ever experienced anywhere. Fruit selection was dreadful (think 80’s style apple fruit salad). Melon (the same 4 slices of watermelon (white and very underrripe), went untouched in the hour I went (approx 9.15am). Grapefruit was good. Extremely limited bread selection - white bread for toast or one loaf of sliced brown bread. Meat /cheese plate had yesterdays cucumber, todays tomato slices with 6-8 slices of assorted meats in total. Hot buffet looked pale and uninteresting. Orange juice was clearly from a processed pack. Coffee was good.

Disappointing to say the least. The hotel's pictures are misleading as the hotel in general is in need of updating and a lot of maintenance. The fixture and fittings are dated - the bedrooms are furnished in an outdated 80s or 90s style. The bathrooms are simply horrible - horrible - old fittings, mouldy. The space between the cistern and wall in one of our bedrooms was stuffed with dirt and dust - it didn't seem to have been cleaned in a long time. Furthermore, this is not a relaxing hotel. There are continuous golfing parties and people from corporate functions in the restaurant and bar which create a certain volume of noise. Breakfast is a buffet breakfast and there is simply a struggle to get food. In general, the food is not great and overpriced. The car park is badly designed and always full with no allocated space for residents. The one positive aspect is the general friendliness of the restaurant and bar staff who do a good job under difficult circumstances. The head barman (didn't get his name) was exceptionally professional.
