We had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us.
We recently stayed here, the accommodation was ideal,we had a 2day break, it was close to the train station 10 min walk, our room was above the white horse pub but there was no noise in the evening it was quiet we had a lovely Outlook of the square and gardens,it was a 2-3 star hotel, ibut it clean, comfortable, with all the amenities and complimentary toiletries.it also included a cooked breakfast which was lovely, The staff was so friendly welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble, will definitely go back here again,a great stay thankyou very much 😀

Beautiful atmospheric hotel with beautiful entrance, spacious bedroom modern classic bathroom, only the food is expensive and nothing special also breakfast was meager. But for the rest is ok
Because it was a few minutes walk from the train station, and I had to catch the train to Iyork at 3pm the next morning, I tried to book a place closest to the station. It was my first time staying in a dormitory, and I felt it was OK, quite quiet. I regretted booking it on Ctrip for more than 30 pounds, as the people in the same room all cost more than 10 pounds.
The hotel is right in front of the cathedral, the location is very central, and Diagon Alley is also within walking distance, which is not convenient for parking. 7.8 minutes after walking the street one night behind the parking lot is okay, parking during the day is very expensive.
Welcome to us is a very old-fashioned British gentleman, introduced the room for 10 minutes, and encountered the butler-style service for the first time.
Lovely little boutique b and b very central, round the corner to York minster. 5 min walk from shambles car park which was easy to use, however we pre booked parking £54 only to get a message from hotel 24hrs later to say you get discount for staying there, why not tell you when booking ?. We stayed in room 12 at the top of the hotel, it was very clean and cosy but noisy from the street from 6.30 in the morning, Toilet seat was loose I nearly ended up on the floor. also because of the beautiful oak beam features I walked around bent over most of the time spent in the room, though a younger person might not have minded. Stairs were very very steep what you would expect from a property like this. On the upside breakfast was fabulous with plenty of choice especially the porridge, staff were friendly and helpful.
The positives were the lovely building and the staff, especially Ewan who helped me with the coffee machine as there were no instructions. Lovely fresh towels and comfy bed. Great location. The negatives were that it really needs a good clean, sofa and carpet were dirty and it looked like blood on a wall! 4 coat hangers with no drawers to put your stuff in and we were there for 3 nights so ended up hanging my dresses on a fan. No fridge in room and disposable plastic tumblers. Heating is pre set so comes on when they want it too. Had to climb up 4 flights of stairs so not good if you have mobility problems. Wine on arrival did not exist! Have gave it 3* for the history and the building.

Hotels are expensive in York during weekends. The Crescent is an economic one but still not cheap. The location is great and is just 10 minutes walk from the York Minster. The room is very small and the furniture is very worn out yet the cleanliness is okay. The breakfast is good.
The location is very convenient, with York City Walls just outside. Butcher Street and the Cathedral are basically a 10-minute walk away.
It's on the street but not noisy, you can see the street view, which is quite unique.
The staff are super warm and friendly!
The room is clean and tidy.
But the kitchen doesn't have basic things like salt, pepper and oil. Basically, we had them in our previous B&Bs in the UK, so it was a bit embarrassing that we didn't bring them here. . .
In addition, the bed is really small, both single and double. I really don't understand why so many beds in the UK are this small. . . And the single bed will make noise when you turn over at night.

GGuest User2519 Great value for money Review of Astor York Pending review I was heading to York for the Christmas market and, knowing that I would spend most of my time out and about, wanted my accommodation to be as inexpensive as possible. A weekend at the Astor York set me back less than £40, and I would say I'm grateful I stayed here for more reasons than just the low price. I hadn't realised that the Christmas market closes quite early, and I found myself back at the hostel earlier than I anticipated. Luckily, there is a common area where you can watch Netflix with the other guests – a nice treat at the end of a cold day. I was admittedly a bit taken aback by the very old-fashioned bathrooms that look straight out of the 1960s. But the hostel was clean and well-maintained. My 30-bed dorm did not feel too crowded, and I was grateful for the cages under beds. My one gripe about the dorm room would be a lack of sockets and lights at beds; it was impossible to charge my phone as I was on the top bunk, so I had to charge it in the common area instead. While I only needed to use the fridge, it looked like the kitchen was well-stocked and spacious. There was also a little bar that did happy hour, though I never made it back early enough to take advantage. The location is a bit of a walk from York's city centre. However, it's quite an easy route, and it's also convenient for accessing the train station. I recommend getting up and out a bit earlier and walking along the ancient wall from Micklegate, which is not far from the hostel. Overall, my stay was great value for money and I'd recommend Astor York to any solo travellers.
XXiayizhanrineiwaIt only takes 12 minutes to walk from the train station to the hotel. The hotel is a white house, which is very beautiful. Especially in winter, the golden trees and warm sunshine make people feel particularly beautiful. The room size is not bad! Big bed, breakfast included! Convenient to York attractions and dining
GGuest UserLovely friendly staff on the desk to greet you. Our room was much more than we were expecting, it was very spacious, clean and the bed was very comfy. We had a great nights sleep considering the hotel is on a busy road we didn’t hear any noise. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and there is plenty of selection. Its only a 5 minute walk to the minster. We found everything within walking distance. We will definitely stay again.
GGuest UserGreat location outside of York city centre and very easy access from main roads. There is a park and ride service about half a mile down the road which is highly recommended as parking in York can be difficult and expensive. Park and ride journey time is around ten minutes and drops you off close to the Shambles area of town. The accommodation was basic but clean. Bed was comfortable, Shower was very powerful and plenty of towels. Large screen TV. Breakfast was limited but very nice and set us up for the day. The only downside about the accommodation was that it would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room to keep water etc, there was plenty of space to have one. Also it would have been nice to have had a small sofa to watch tv in the evenings as the two desk chairs were not comfortable to sit on for any length of time. Also the walls were very thin as other room noise even conversations could be heard. There is also a Toby Inn next door which does really nice food and various ales.
PPageBrianWould recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in York. Less than 10 minutes walk from the city walls. Rooms are above a pub that serves food. Excellent pricing compared to others. Clean well appointed rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free parking also which most others don't offer!
MMana BeigiThe best experience we had. Hotel was very clean. Full of character and we loved how they decorated the room. Staff were just amazing and looked after us at dinner table and breakfast time. The food was amazing too. They were very nice people and we enjoyed our stay. The only downsudr was the parking place, we barely could find a space but it was bank holiday weekend so understandable. Overall one of the best experience of staying at a hotel.
GGuest UserWe stayed here 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly and helpful checkin on arrival. Our room was well equipped with everything you require for a comfortable stay and it was very quiet. Only small complaint was we had an upstairs room and it got quite hot during the day and took awhile to cool off at night. There’s a pub across the road for meals and a drink and a convenience store a short walk away. A short pleasant walk to the city with all the amazing things York has to offer. There’s a no alcohol policy in your room which has attracted some negative feedback in the past. But it’s the owners place so it’s their rules and we had no problem respecting their decision. We had a cup of tea at night instead of our glass of red. The majority of people would drink responsibly in their rooms but there’s always a few that would spoil it for everyone else and the owners have no option but to make it a blanket ban. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone else.
GGuest UserAt arrival we managed to get the key before the actual check in time. I called the number and the housekeeper very kindly gave me the key card and showed me how to open doors for later on. We were so lucky to have a family room even if it was just the two of us. We stayed in room 3 at ground floor. There was plenty of space and lots of tea and coffee and a small fridge as well. The bathroom is awesome, brand new with a huge shower and very clean. Only thing is the radiators in the room do not work so there is a heater. The room was quite warm but maybe it would be better to have a different heating system for winter. We like staying in Fulford because it's much quieter than the city centre. The bus stop is very close and busses run every 15 minutes. Perfect for us!

York Minster
JJidaniit was raining on the day I visited and I remember that I don’t have enough time to go inside, so, just taking a picture with the church is already way more enough for me.
Shambles
도도저언There are rumors that Wimbledon Street is good to see, but when I actually went there, it was nice because there were many shops to see! I heard that the ghost shop is famous, but there was a long line in front of me, so I couldn't go in.
York City Walls
闲闲来有趣King George VI once proudly said, "The history of York is the history of England". Located on the banks of the River Ouse in northeast England, York is the second largest tourist city in England. Its outstanding architecture and two thousand years of history are integrated with its prosperous commercial streets. There are more than 30 museums and galleries in the city center. Here you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the leisure and tranquility that the British town brings you.
National Railway Museum York
好好香好香女侠Walk about five minutes from York Station, go to platform 11, cross the overpass, there are signs, it is easy to see. There are not many people, I didn't make an appointment to go directly in. There are a lot of local elderly and children, but watch quietly. The history of the train is clear at a glance, and the knowledge is increased. Half of the backbone of European railways comes from Britain, and the trains and train technology that existed more than a hundred and fifty years ago are truly admirable.
York's Chocolate Story
爱爱爱李The York Chocolate Factory is a very good place. There are many chocolate shops on the whole street. The whole atmosphere of the chocolate factory is also very good. It is suitable for everyone who comes here to eat. There are also many varieties of chocolate.
Clifford's Tower, York
AAsim9My first time visiting this tower ,all the staff was extremely friendly and helpful .We really enjoyed visiting this beautiful piece of history and we adore york. Was so happy to know it is english heritage so everytime we go somewhere we try and make use out of our membership. Was a wonderful structure been made for the stairs nice and strong. We enjoyed the roof top being able to have a clear 360 view was magnificent well worth all the climbing up both stairs .
River Ouse
Ssuifeng2019The River Ouse runs through the center of York Old Town, and the houses on both sides of the river are very close to the river. When we came to the River Ouse near sunset, the golden afterglow sprinkled on the river and the roofs, the picture was really beautiful.
JORVIK Viking Centre
__TI***8zA must-visit when visiting York. The Time Warp ride takes you back to the early days of a Viking settlement where you can smell the food, hear the talking and the singing and feel the vibes.
The average price for hotels in York is US$195 on weekdays, and US$226 on weekends (Friday-Saturday).
