The magnificence of Huangshan is intoxicating, but when we were at the foot of Huangshan and were strongly recommended by the locals to go to Tunxi Old Street, we found that there were more surprises here. In fact, we were also very curious why the locals didn't recommend Hongcun, but in the end we chose the homestay in Tunxi Old Street, because a good homestay experience can make people truly integrate into local life and feel the charm of Huizhou culture. The warmth of homestay: streets and alleys We chose a homestay very close to the riverside-streets and alleys. The owner's enthusiasm started when we called to ask for directions, and he patiently and meticulously answered every question. After the five of us arrived, we were immediately attracted by the decoration style of the homestay: log decoration, warm lighting, and various art exhibits and exotic flowers and plants, as if we were in a dream garden. After checking in, we found that the owner had turned on the air conditioner in advance. The room was decorated very distinctively, and the details showed the truth. Each room is equipped with tea sets for brewing local Keemun black tea, and the bedding is clean and comfortable, with skin-friendly quality. We booked two rooms, and the boss arranged them opposite to facilitate our communication. Fruits were also delivered in the room, and the boss also created a WeChat group to provide services at any time, inform breakfast and local information. This kind of intimate experience instantly reduced most of the fatigue of the journey. The fireworks of Tunxi Old Street After a short rest, we set out to find food. It happened that the homestay garden party in Tunxi Old Street that day started at 7:30 in the evening. We wanted to have a full meal, but we found that we had to solve it quickly. So we turned and walked into a century-old store to eat noodles. Although the store is small, it has been clean and tidy for a hundred years. The owners are a pair of aunts and uncles. They are very gentle and kind, and they are also very friendly to children. The free side dishes provided in the store make the noodles and wontons more fragrant. At 7:30 in the evening, the garden party officially began. Dragon and lion dances, hanging lions, Fuwa masks in elementary schools, Hanfu performances by kindergarten children, Hanfu performances by young people, and special fish lanterns are simply beautiful! The local people introduced the folk customs of Huizhou in detail, and we learned that each county near Huangshan has unique folk activities, which are very distinctive. It is recommended that you pay attention to the information of the local Cultural and Tourism Bureau before traveling. We participated in the folk parade for the first time, and we followed the team excitedly. The children liked the youth lion dance the most, and the actors also interacted closely with the children, leaving a deep impression. The unique experience made us excited. Night Tour of Tunxi Old Street and Xin'an River During the parade, we also enjoyed the night view of Xin'an River, which is said to be one of the sources of Qiandao Lake. The lights on the riverside and the mountains and rivers in the distance complement each other, and have a unique charm. Crossing the riverside, we accidentally discovered a more modern Liyang Old Street. There are both ancient buildings and modern commercial atmosphere, which are perfectly integrated. We tasted the plum blossom cake here, which tasted very good, and also checked in at Zhanshan Bookstore. The environment is quiet and beautiful, which makes people linger. This trip to Huangshan not only allowed us to appreciate the magnificence of Huangshan, but also allowed us to deeply experience the culture and folk customs of Huizhou. The lively atmosphere of Tunxi Old Street, the warmth of the homestays, and the lively folk activities all made us feel the enthusiasm and hospitality of the Huizhou people.
