The hotel design is simple and beautiful, and the lobby and rooms have a sense of design.
The hotel is in an excellent location, only a few minutes walk to the downtown area
I will stay here again next time I come to Kyoto. .

It's very nice and the price is right. You don't need to get out of bed to eat breakfast directly. The service attitude is also very good. The attitude of the front desk is also very good and friendly. The hotel room is also very high-end. It looks like it wants to make people look after the elderly. It feels very comfortable. There is a tablet in front of the bed to control the air conditioning and lighting. There is a mobile phone and audio system for playing music. The bathtub is also very large. It’s easy to soak in the bath alone while listening to a ditty!

The details are full, the breakfast is very good, and the service staff are very enthusiastic and patient. Helped me solve a lot of troubles. Including but not limited to car calling and meal ordering. The location is different from the area near the scenic spot where I used to live. The downstairs is very quiet. The ramen shops, yakiniku shops, and coffee shops that I can find in many small shops nearby are all delicious. I feel that I have penetrated into the living area of Kyoto.

There are certain highlights, such as avant-garde design, B&O audio, Dyson hair dryer, etc.
But the general cleanliness and some details of the design are not entirely reassuring.
I think there are better options at this price point.

Stayed at Mogana with my wife while on a trip in Kyoto. Excellent hotel with a couple of footnotes: The Good: * Nice hotel in a quaint part of Kyoto. * Clean, streamlined, with monotone colors (well done); hotels feels uncluttered (bare essentials when it comes to furniture, which augments to the overall zen/serene feel of this boutique hotel). Stylish boutique hotel with little to fault. * Excellent breakfast delivered to your room. Top quality ingredients and presentation. * Top notch staff, attentive, caring, perfectionist and accommodating. * Almost everything in room controlled by an electronic notepad, including room service, temperature… easy to use. * Nice bathroom. The Bad: Nothing bad, but want to set expectations in footnotes. Footnotes: Mogana is a quiet hotel meaning no bars/restaurants. Technically there is 1 small bar that serves drinks, but it is not the traditional bar you’d find it most hotels so I wouldn’t really count it as a bar. However, room service is available and serves only a few dishes (non-western) and small selection of drinks. But, as I mentioned earlier, food at Mogana is fresh and EXCELLENT, so quality more than makes up for selection. Taxis in Kyoto had a hard time finding this hotel, including other locations. When/if in a taxi headed to Mogana or elsewhere, make sure to have the name of the hotel/location AND address handy to show the driver. Kyoto has countless small streets. Japanese drive well, BUT share streets with pedestrians in those tiny streets. Most are small and narrow and look like small alleys by western standards, but are streets. When walking make sure you maintain situational sweetness of traffic. Drivers will avoid you, but often with a few inches to spare. In other words, when walking, if you’re doing to change direction, turn, move…make sure you maintain situational awareness to avoid getting hit by a car. Didn’t see any issues which is probably due to drivers/pedestrians playing by the same rules.

First time back in Japan in almost three years. Decided to stay at very modern, high design, Mogana this time because of all the positive reviews. The location is not as convenient as some other hotels but it gave me a chance to see a less tourist filled side of Kyoto with lots of side alleys that made the whole experience more of a discovery. I arrived by taxi after the Haruka express from Kansai airport and check in was quick and efficient. The room looked exactly as it does in photos: Minimalist glass pod. Onsen style black granite bathtub. Lighting is a bit too fluorescent for me, for a hotel room (room 602) the lighting used should be more warm (I had to filter photos for my photo album). Aircon was also a bit loud at night. Otherwise I was quite happy with Mogana, especially liked the rock garden outside with the courtyard plants wall that allowed a peak at the sky, the frosted glass in front of the bed allowed in muted sunlight, all very clever, modern yet Japanese aesthetics.

The hotel design is very special . We had a big room very neat .. the staff were very helpful and did everything in order to help us !! The breakfast was served in the room and every morning it was different . Some days we got only a Japanese breakfast and we didn’t like it .. the bathroom and toilets were great !!!

This hotel is beautifully designed in a minimalist style and you can read all about the architecture on the website. In spite of the rather stark approach, the room was actually very comfortable with a big bathroom, bath big enough for two and a giant bed. Breakfast was served in the room and was different each day with a mixture of Japanese and more Western items. Coffee and tea were served and there was water in the room as well as tea, coffee and some biscuits. Plenty of amenities and all high quality. You can choose whether to have your room cleaned each day or whether to just have clean towels or neither. A good nod to environmental sustainability which also affords additional privacy. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here. We borrowed umbrellas, they made a restaurant reservation for me and confirmed it on arrival, booked taxis and organised our luggage forwarding. An extra lovely touch was that they gave me a birthday present as I was leaving. My partner had mentioned it was my birthday less than half an hour before when our breakfast was delivered so to receive a beautifully wrapped gift and card when checking out was a really nice surprise. It’s a quiet location but very convenient for some museums and with great transport links. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes this style of architecture - we did find it a bit dark at times so I’d probably book a white room if returning!

A beautiful minimalist hotel that whispers cool through its geometric black corridors. The rooms are either white, black or grey. All are very comfortable. The staff are superb and look equally cool, dressed head to to in Issey Miyake. There are no televisions in the rooms, nothing to detract from the zen atmosphere.

As a birthday surprise for him, I wanted to book a hotel without telling him, and after considering various hotels, I finally decided on this one. I felt that the hospitality of the staff, including the receptionist, was wonderful. First, after making the reservation, we had a surprise meeting via email. I ordered balloons online and asked them to arrange for them to be delivered to the hotel the day before, which they happily agreed to and received them in a timely manner. On the day, I arrived earlier than the check-in time and left my overnight luggage and birthday present. I only asked for a present to be placed at the foot of the balloon, but the front desk staff was very thorough in confirming the plan, and I was very happy that they were able to help me with my anxiety about the surprise. It was. Normally, the staff would come to your room and introduce you to the room, but this time we received a suggestion that it would be better for the two of us to go in together, so all the room introductions will be done at the front desk. Thank you. When we entered the room, we were surprised to find that it was even more beautiful than we had imagined, coupled with the fantastical atmosphere of the room itself, which brought tears to our eyes as we prepared the surprise. The cake I had prepared was transferred to a beautiful plate, lit with candles, and brought to my room at the scheduled time.I was impressed that they even prepared tea for me. Thank you very much for making unforgettable memories. Before making the reservation, I had read some negative reviews, so I thought I would share my thoughts on those as well. ① The bath stopper is loose, and even if it accumulates, it will drain automatically. A similar thing happened to me here, but when I adjusted the angle of the stopper, it started to collect properly, so I thought it was a problem on the guest's side. Ta. ② The size of the loungewear is too small. I had read several reviews about this, so I brought my loungewear with me on the day of the stay. Therefore, I have not picked up the loungewear and cannot confirm the size. Sandals were provided, but since I am a woman with large feet, I had a hard time putting them on, but there were disposable slippers in the closet near the entrance, so if you're like me, you can use those. I think there will be no problem if you use it. ③Breakfast was cold The side dishes were certainly not warm. However, we recognize that these side dishes can be eaten cold without any problems. The taste is also delicious. Foods like rice and miso soup that need to be warm to taste were warm. ④The desk where I eat breakfast is low.If anything, it is low. However, if this table is too high, I think it will spoil the view of the room. I like to enjoy the overall atmosphere of the room and relax, so this was much better than having an unnaturally high table. I think it's fine to be particular about the dining table at home, but I couldn't understand why people would be so stingy with a table at a hotel where they're only staying for a few nights. ⑤ The windows are big, but there are no curtains, so it's bright in the morning. ⑥ There's no TV, so I'm bored. Regarding these two things, first of all, the big windows and the lack of a TV are the characteristics of this hotel. A fantastic room with large windows and a feeling of openness. There is no TV on purpose so that you can forget about the floating world and enjoy the fantastical space. This is written on the hotel's website. It's probably your own problem that you didn't look into beforehand. Since there was no TV, I was able to enjoy the leisurely time and feel refreshed. Also, regarding curtains, we have curtains! Perhaps I overlooked it, but there is a button by the bedside to close the curtains. I think I should have asked the front desk if it was too bright. It was a really nice space.
