Halle Bailey
Halle Bailey is best known for being one half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle alongside her older sister Chloe Bailey.
The Georgia native was born in Atlanta in March 2000 and began acting at the age of 3. Before making it big, she had small roles in the 2012 film Joyful Noise and the Disney Channel movie Let It Shine.
Halle and her sister launched their joint YouTube page when they were 11 and 13, respectively. The duo covered a series of Beyoncé songs and went viral for their rendition of “Pretty Hurts.” They made their talk show debut in April 2012 on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Four years later, they signed a record deal with Parkwood Entertainment — which was founded by Beyoncé.
Chloe x Halle went on to release their debut EP, Sugar Symphony, in 2016. The following year, the singers dropped their critically acclaimed mixtape, The Two of Us, via YouTube. Following their first LP, 2018’s The Kids Are Alright, the pair released their sophomore album, Ungodly Hour, which earned them several Grammy nominations in 2020, including best R&B song for “Do It.”
In addition to their flourishing musical careers, Halle and Chloe also nabbed roles in the Black-ish spinoff series Grown-ish, for which they also performed the theme song.
Halle eventually branched off by herself, starring in the 2023 live-action version of The Little Mermaid as Ariel. She was later cast in the 2023 film adaption of The Color Purple.
Halle began dating rapper DDG, who also got his start on YouTube, in 2022.
