According to at least one TikTok video, Marcello Hernández seemingly can’t get through a stand-up performance these days without being forced to include a nod to his fan-favorite SNL character Domingo. The character became an instant hit after appearing in the October 12 sketch “Bridesmaid Speech,” in which Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, and the episode’s host, Ariana Grande, play a group of bridesmaids singing a parody of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” at a wedding reception to tell bride Kelsey’s (Chloe Fineman) new husband, Matt (Andrew Dismukes), that she cheated on him with the Domingo during her bachelorette party. Apparently, the sketch — which quickly became the most-viewed video ever posted to SNL’s TikTok page — has gotten so popular that Carpenter now feels compelled to nod to it in her performances, too. On Sunday, Hernández made a surprise appearance at Carpenter’s show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles as Domingo. His triumphant arrival marked by his signature “Sabrina, I’m here” brought the house down. “I’m so flustered,” Carpenter tells him in a video captured by a fan. “Where are you from?” “I’m from Miami, baby!” Domingo replies. “I wish you were from my bedroom,” Carpenter shoots back.
It was the second time Hernández brought Domingo back this past weekend, as he also popped up in a sequel to his hit sketch during November 16’s episode of SNL hosted by Charli XCX. In the new sketch “Babymoon,” Kelsey and Matt have beaten the odds and made it through Kelsey’s infidelity crisis and are now celebrating the arrival of an upcoming baby. You’ll never guess who shows up and crashes Kelsey’s friends’ parody rendition of Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!” And so starts the countdown until Hernández shows up at a Chappell Roan concert a month from now. Until then, Barry Keoghan should watch his back or get onboard with Domingo joining him and Carpenter in a throuple.
