Welsh snooker star Mark Williams has been pictured taking on oxygen in the middle of a match.
The three-time world champion sparked concern on Sunday after taking to X to share a photo of himself hooked up to an oxygen tank and wearing nasal tubes. Captioning the photo, Williams wrote that "oxygen [was] needed at the interval" and appeared to suggest that he thought he was "going to fall over on the first frame".
Fans rushed to enquire about his health, but the 49-year-old quickly played down their fears, explaining that the oxygen was a necessity due to where he was playing.
The Welshman is currently playing in Lhasa, Tibet, taking part in the 2025 Tianren Cup Lhasa Winter Plateau Snooker Challenge exhibition event. It comes after he flew out to China to compete in the CBSA Superstar Invitational event last week.
Due to the high altitude he has been playing at in Lhasa, oxygen is required or, as he told one concerned fan, "it's goodnight Irene". In his responses to supporters, Williams added: "I'm fine, I'm not sick atm. It's 'cause I'm in Tibet, 15,000 [feet] up in the sky."
When one fan asked him if he was "going for the first ever 147 at the summit of Everest," the man from Cwm replied: "Staying on your feet is good in itself."
Ding Junhui, Judd Trump and Xiao Guodong are all also taking part in the exhibition event, with Trump sharing photos of where he is playing on his Instagram account.
