'Longest rugby kick ever' travels entire length of pitch as spectators go wild

The scrum-half had a little help from the wind!

You'd be hard pressed to find a longer kick than this!(Image: botbay18 via rugbyunion on Reddit)

A Spanish rugby player completed the longest kick ever seen on a rugby field.

Playing for his country against Spain in The Rugby Europe Championship, Zurab Dzneladze stuck a dangerous grubber in behind the Spanish defensive line, forcing replacement scrum-half Facundo Manilla to scramble back.

The conditions at the match were abysmal, with gale force winds wreaking havoc. Under the cosh, Manilla smacked the leather off the ball with a mighty strike.

Aided by the blustery conditions, the ball travelled a remarkable distance, bouncing once inside the opposition half before flying like a heat-seeking missile across the very corner of the Georgian touchline.

Fans went wild for the kick, throwing their arms into the air as it went the entire length of the field.

That would have gone down in history as the best 50:22 ever, but unfortunately the kick was completed two years before the ruling came into effect.

Fans were blown away by the moment online.

"That kept bouncing like a golf ball on concrete," remarked one.
