Bids Open for Courthouse Elevator Renovation
ZANEVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Commissioners held a meeting Thursday morning to open bids for the much-needed courthouse elevator renovation project.
Three bids were submitted by TK Elevator, Otis Elevator, and Schindler Elevator Companies, ranging from $255,000 to $290,000.
“We received three bids for the courthouse elevator renovation. It’s just to do a complete renovation of the current elevator in the courthouse,” County Administrator Eric Reed said.
This renovation project is necessary due to the age and wear and tear of the elevator, which have caused disruptions to county operations when the elevator is down. The commissioners will now take the bids under advisement, with a decision expected to be made within a week.
“We’ve had significant delays and days without operation in the courthouse due to the elevators age. It has wear and tear, and that’s significant because we operate on three floors. Courts, employees, and citizens come in to do business on multiple levels of the courthouse. When the elevator is down, especially for significant lengths of time, it causes disruption to county operations,” Reed said.
Stay tuned for further updates on the selected bid and the renovation timeline as the commissioners finalize their decision.
