Apple plans to start selling the iPad Pro on November 11th

Apple plans to start selling the 12.9-inch iPad Pro on Wednesday, November 11th via both its physical retail and online stores, according to multiple sources. Apple previously only said that the large tablet would become available during the month of November, a couple of months after the introduction in early September. The iPad Pro’s marquee accessories, the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, will also become available for purchase on November 11th. The iPad Pro starts at $799 and comes in both 32GB and 128GB configurations with WiFi only. An LTE-compatible version comes exclusively in the 128GB configuration and costs upwards of $1000. We reported earlier this week that Apple’s support staff is scheduled to complete iPad Pro training by November 6th, less than a week prior to the launch.

So this won’t be a pre-order then (if it will sell in retail and online same day) ? DO you know if reservations will be available ?

I was totally expecting “Apple Plans to Start Selling the iPad Pro on Mars.”

waiting for the 3d touch enabled one …first world problems

    • bedrock25 - 9 years ago

I think that’s so dumb for Apple to not include 3D Touch. I mean come on guys it’s on the new iPhone and on the new touchpad. You couldn’t put it on the Pro? Come on already, however I’m still buying it 😜😜😜.

buying handicapped devices just encourages them to keep playing these games.

      • Maybe Apple couldn’t “perfect” the screen technology needed to integrate both the 3D Touch sensors and Pencil capability to ensure it’s available on the same device. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Look what 3D touch did to the iPhone 6 -> 6s in terms of weight. How do you know they can even make it work on a tablet that size without making it an unacceptable compromise?

It’s one thing to build 3D Touch on a small screen, and quite another to do it for a iPad Pro, or even the mini or regular iPad. The scale up is neither easy nor linear.

And… you need to be a Martian to buy ’em. I envy Matt Damon. He prolly has one with him before the lauching date :(

can’t wait to try this out in-store. I fully plan on replacing my MacBook with this and making it my everyday computing device. This is the future of computing in my mind. Storage is no longer an issue with the cloud and home based NAS. I will have a desktop Mac that I can turn to if I need to do heavy computing at home, and can remotely log into it when traveling with the iPad Pro.

Well, if you know which apps to use in order to have great file management, then OK. But so far, my experience with iOS file management will not simulate the OSX one.

I thought that a year or so ago, and dumped may MacBook for a series of iPads and Chromebooks. It is quite simply impossible to replicate the desktop computing experience on iOS or Android unless you are starting your whole digital life and workstyle existence from scratch and are not a power user. 1. As others say, file management is a nightmare. No ability to drag and drop files across drives, cloud storage services, folders and so on. Still only possible to do this on OS X, Windows, Linux etc. 2. No iOS/Android software out there (including iMovie, various Adobe iOS apps) offers even 50% of the capability of desktop apps, such as Adobe Illustrator. It is very possible that Apple and Google have got things backwards, and instead of trying to create all new OSes for mobile (iOS/Android) they should instead have focused on ‘cloudifying’ the whole desktop experience in a seamless fashion. IE, right now, as I type this, I’m on a 2015 MacBook Pro 13″ Retina. Imagine if without any change in operation at all, Apple activated a feature that saved everything in the cloud seamlessly – replacing or duplicating the local hard drive. One could then login from any Mac and continue where one left off on the other. No need for iOS at all, as tech has now advanced such that OS X could run on a compact device, such as an ‘iPad’, or ‘mPad’ if it’s to be a Mac!

Ok, so if it is WiFi only, does that mean Apple plans to actually fix the Wi-Fried bug that drops connection coonstantly? Without LTE backup, this has the potential to be an even bigger source of frustration than the multiple ipads i have that all have difficulty staying connected to my powerful Fios router unless i am right on top of it.

So do we still think pre orders starting Nov 2 or now Nov 4 ( one week out from Nov 11) or no pre orders at all?

    • Thomas Yoon - 9 years ago

With the new Apple TV there weren’t any preorders involved, just went on sale day of. I’m thinking with no announcement this close to release day, this will be the same. They probably got a healthy stock in, considering the number of people who will dive right into this massive and expensive tablet won’t be insanely overwhelming like a new iPhone.

When will they sell it at Best Buy Live near an Apple Store and don’t like buying stuff online. I want to see it first and test it out. Still waiting for them to let Best Buy sell the Beats Pill+. I knew once Apple bought them out they screw it up for people who liked Beats with their crappy way of selling it at their stores only first. Poor customer service release it every where so everyone can get it!!

    • Thomas Yoon - 9 years ago

It’s not that simple. Apple-dedicated customers far outnumber the people who will waltz into a Best Buy or Target months down the road looking for a tablet replacement. With supply and demand thrown into the mix, Best Buys and Targets will likely get about…10 of each model on Day 1 (usually even Week 1, from my experiences at working for Target Electronics). Apple products are always in heavy demand, and keeping their stores stocked is enough work. When the demand settles down in the following months, they’ll gain more remaining stock and will likely push it to other stores.

In other words, it’s not poor customer service. Apple isn’t against you buying their stuff at Best Buy. If anything, not supplying to them would only hurt their gains.

so if this ipad pro is only wifi does that mean that their wont be a ipad pro that takes sim card, and if so does that mean i caant get it on contract because i have the ipad air 2 and by the time the ipad pro is released i’m due for aan upgrade and i was gonna get the ipad pro as my upgrade.

  10. modeyabsolom - 9 years ago

The iPad Pro is quite complete for a first generation Apple product. None the less when it comes to Apple, I still prefer to wait for second generation and upwards. Even though for me it was still the star of this year’s keynote. The Watch and latest TV are examples of first-gen products that could do with some improvements. And yes I know technically TV is the 4th iteration, but its completely redesigned, so for me is a first-gen product.

The release date is the 19th and insiders are going nutso and ready to get into a line by your claim it being on the 11th. Better you stop them from doing that now if you are just stirring up the pot. Which is it? and you have to take responsibility or where you just kidding and tell me you woke up and wanted it on the 11th.
