The latest iOS 9 figures posted to Apple’s developer site show that adoption is currently stalled at 77%, the same number reported at the last update earlier this month, but still ahead of the iOS 8 curve. iOS 8 took until 18th March to hit that same 77%.
Most of the hold-outs are running iOS 8, at 17% of the total while only 6% are running an earlier version. This contrasts strongly with Android, where a miniscule 1.2% of devices are running the latest 6.0 Marshmallow flavor and the greatest number are still on 4.4 KitKat.
Apple yesterday released iOS 9.3 public beta 4 with Night Shift, Touch ID Notes, & Verizon Wi-Fi Calling.

“Stalled” may be misleading because many of us own older devices that CANNOT be upgraded!! Or, we have recent one that can be, but we’ve wised up to iOS upgrades that slow down our iPhones and iPads!
We recently upgraded our iPad Air 2 to iOS 9 and, frankly, see little that’s compelling in it. ( You know it’ shad when you have to Google for new features and scroll through one after another finding little!)
We’d much rather that Apple fix the bugs, glitches, and inconsistencies in the iOS and Apple apps than add features. If they are going to add something, let it be user customization of the iOS– themes, home screen rearrangements, and different GUIs (e.g., tabbed interface).
Everyone on iOS 8 can upgrade to iOS 9.
