As usual, Nintendo’s E3 2016 presence came by way of a special Treehouse Live event today. After massive showcases from Microsoft and Sony yesterday, it’s all about Zelda now. Maybe one the of most anticipated titles in recent memory, Nintendo showed all sorts of new Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild footage in glorious HD, along with more on Pokemon Sun/Moon.

Step into a world of discovery, exploration and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure.
Showcasing the epic new world, and hints at the story, Nintendo kicked off the event with a brand new Legend of Zelda trailer. And it looks fantastic. We get sprawling grasslands, lush forests, majestic bridges and Link soaring over it all on a sailcloth hand glider of sorts. There is a brief look at combat, powers, crafting, some of the new enemies and wow….just wow. Check this out:
It is described by Nintendo as a “vast” and “truly seamless Hyrule”. Breath of the Wild is one of the biggest experiences ever created by Nintendo, according to Reggie.
Game producer, Eiji Aonuma, then made an appearance to provide some commentary over a gameplay demo and to reveal more details about the upcoming experience. The demo started with Link (as usual) waking up in some sort of mysterious shrine before being set out into the wild open world. We get a quick peak at the equip systems, Link’s jumping and climbing (including trees) abilities, the (giant-looking) map, the Hyrule Plateau and more.
Before the event was dedicated entirely to the new Zelda title, Nintendo showed off some new footage and a lengthy gameplay demo for Pokemon Sun and Moon (releasing November 18th on 3DS). We will update this post with more video when Nintendo releases it.
