As we all know, the UAE opened its arms for people from everywhere to come, build, and thrive here, and the late Phillip El Khoury, the founder of ADSO, was no exception. We pride ourselves that our story is intertwined with the rise of the UAE. It all started in 1968—a short time ahead of the union of the United Arab Emirates. The late Philip El Khoury, an immigrant, arrived at the port of Abu Dhabi after the ship he embarked on broke down en route to Kuwait. At the port of Abu Dhabi, he discovered that his talent in translation was needed here by drivers, companies, and shippers. He started the company with a simple desk at the tea shop and put a banner up with the Abu Dhabi Services Office (ADSO) in 1968, offering customs clearance and freight forwarding. Since then ADSO has been developing its model and services to meet the UAE market demands and its decision-maker's vision and leadership. We are proud to have been part of the growth of this Nation from day 1. Today, we celebrate the UAE National Day with pride and excitement. Mounir’s story is anything but conventional—a true lesson in turning challenges into opportunities. His journey began when his father, who worked alongside our founder, the late Philip El Khoury, decided to teach him a tough lesson. After being expelled from school for misbehavior in the early 80’s, Mounir’s father sent him to work at Adso’s border customs clearing office of the UAE/ KSA. What was meant to be a punishment turned into the start of Mounir’s career. He left school for good and began working at ADSO. But what sets Mounir apart is his relentless drive for growth. He didn’t settle for staying at the entry level. He kept learning, striving, and pushing for more. Step by step, Mounir’s hard work and dedication paid off, leading him to become a managing partner. Today, Mounir proudly shares his story at events, inspiring others with his journey. His message to the younger generation: Dream big. Start small. Never stop learning.
