Thanks to the training she received from ARK's USAID funded Building Peace in Yemen program, Samar harnessed vital conflict resolution skills, including mediation techniques, the Do No Harm principle, and gender inclusion, to mediate a family dispute and exemplify community leadership in Al Dergag, #Yemen. When a family land dispute arose, Samar took action. She organized a meeting to discuss the issue and advocated for a fair compromise that valued every voice. Her proactive approach resolved the conflict and earned her respect in her community as a peacemaker. Samar’s story demonstrates how this program empowers women leaders to create stronger community ties.

Over many years we were fortunate to work with incredibly talented Syrian creatives and artists who used their talent as a form of protest to the regime in #Syria. Back in #London for productive meetings this week with my Senior Management Team and Heads of Department. Head count has more than doubled this year and we continue to be actively recruiting for a significant number of #vacancies - so please watch this space https://lnkd.in/eVpzWVhT. We have made the decision to reopen our office in London (we were in Southwark previously but welcome any suggestions!) early next year and to take on further office space in #Beirut and #Kingston. Plans to open up in #Canada are firming up too and we will look more seriously whether now is the time to reopen in the #US - so for potential hires there should be a range of options of where to work from (hybrid working remains great. but we find people miss social interaction). MENA will remain a major priority but the focus in the coming period is on the Americas and the Caribbean. Lots to look forward to in 2025!
