Example 1: Long Division * The Problem: Dividing a big, intimidating number. * The Structure: That magical diagram—the division bar (厂)—that our teacher introduced. It neatly separated the dividend, divisor, quotient, and remainder, turning chaos into clarity. Step by step. Example 2: Tying Your Shoelaces * The Problem: Loose laces that kept tripping us up. * The Structure: Follow clear steps—over, under, loop, and pull. A structured solution to a daily problem. 👟 Example 3: Solving a Jigsaw Puzzle * The Problem: A chaotic pile of pieces. * The Structure: Start with the edges. Group by color. Slowly assemble until the big picture appears. 🧩 Here’s the thing: As kids, we naturally structured problems. We simplified, created steps, and followed a process. But have we lost that art as we’ve grown up? Now, when we face challenges—at work or in life—we often overcomplicate them. On Sunday, December 1, we hosted a LIVE BCG Round 1 Interview Simulation, and it was a game-changer for everyone who attended. The session was powered by two fantastic individuals; Rohan Maloo, a Consultant at BCG, who showcased what it truly takes to excel in case interviews and Atharva Nawade, our brave candidate, who brought curiosity and confidence as he tackled a challenging case live. The case? "Your client, a fast-growing online skincare brand in Mumbai, wants to reduce their shipping time from 4 days to 2 days. How would you help them?" It explored logistics, supply chain, and e-commerce operations; a problem-solving playground relevant not only to consulting but across industries. What made this session remarkable: 1. A masterclass in case-solving: From clarification questions to structuring the problem, conducting analyses, and delivering recommendations, it demonstrated every step of a consulting interview. 2. Diverse perspectives: Attendees offered alternate solutions in the chat, showcasing that there are multiple ways to approach a problem; something fundamental to consulting. 3. Engaging discussions: Rohan’s feedback and the post-case Q&A session dived deep into the logistics and supply chain industry, providing valuable real-world insights. 4. Learning for all: Whether you're targeting consulting roles or any field requiring structured problem-solving, this session was an eye-opener.
