One major issue was the age and complexity of their Operational Technology (OT) systems, which presented significant risks related to potential failures or disruptions. Additionally, there were concerns related to the threat of cyber attacks, which could compromise the safety and security of the site and its users. The Need to Fight Back during an Active Shooter Event. We need to be more resilient and self reliant in our attitude towards criminals and terrorists alike. Hawkesandco have always trained using the Run-Hide-Fight technique not the British police recommended Run-Hide-Tell, for one simple reason. Police training is geared towards a police response, but realistically this will be to late, and fighting back could be your only option, so why not prepare for such an incident. A gunman or someone brandishing a knife, walks into a room and start’s shooting or stabbing. No escape, no where to hide? Do nothing then you are going to be killed. But attempt to fight back, you may get killed, but ultimately you may survive and encourage others to fight back. It becomes instinctive, but you need to have the will to get back to your family. No guidelines, no policies can ever teach that, people need to understand their options realistically, not just a tick box exercise or an online video, which is a complete cop out. Are the UK ready for the next terrorist attack? Definitely not, because companies don’t invest in training that could save their lives, starting with the basic situational awareness, then active shooter or as the police call it, Marauding terrorist attack. While the government have been sat on their backsides and burying their heads in the sand since the last terrorist attack, we have been teaching active shooter and situational awareness worldwide for the past 9 years, ensuring everyone understands their options.
