Omani authorities are now actively enforcing new employer obligations, with penalties for non-compliance. Key requirements include hiring Omani employees and registering under the Wage Protection System (WPS). Businesses that fail to comply may face fines or suspension of their commercial registrations. The long-awaited thresholds for the UAE's new merger control regime were recently published. From 31 March 2025, mergers meeting either of the following thresholds will need to be notified in the UAE at least 90 days before completion: ➡️ the combined turnover of the parties in the relevant market in the UAE exceeds AED 300 million; or ➡️ the combined market share of the parties in the relevant market in the UAE exceeds 40%. Zahra's panel discussed recent developments in Interim Relief and Contempt Applications in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Courts. Zahra presented a practical step-by-step guide to making an urgent application for interim relief in the DIFC Courts, with tips drawn from her experiences of working on various cases.
