This week, the Manufacturing Advancement and Development (MADE) program wrapped up its activities with a demo day held at our new hub in Zamalek. MCed by Rawan Bassam, enpact’s Country Manager in Egypt, the event was launched by a welcome note from Svenja Brachmann, Head of Project, at GIZ Egypt’s Private Sector Innovation (PSI) project. Thank you to those who joined us from international ecosystem enablers and embassies to show support for the teams, including Georg Krenn, Head of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Cairo; Alexis Below, Head of Economic Department of the German Embassy in Cairo; Khaled Abdelwahab, Business and Trade Promotion Officer at the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo; and Agnes Jansen, MADE Program’s advisor from GIZ Egypt. Over nine months, the MADE teams have been working on introducing solutions to push forward manufacturing in Egypt. Together, their solutions promote the implementation of the sustainability nexus in the manufacturing sector. For energy efficiency, Green Flames, Eco-rise, and Windy developed sustainable energy-generating solutions, with zero carbon footprints. For water access, Farwla Tech, PPS, and Sputnik introduced solutions to preserve water resources in farming and industrial practices. AlProtein, RFR, and Bees-Out have developed alternative, sustainable and affordable solutions for manufacturers in the food industry. The 9 teams of the program’s incubator took over the stage to pitch their solutions to a panel of business and industry experts: Ahmed Bastawy, Managing Director at icealex; Ahmed Naguib, Chief Commercial Officer of SES Egypt; Hazem Salaheldin Eltawab, Founder & General Manager of ReNile; and Karim Hemdan Sabbah, Managing Partner of DINARe VENTURES. The jurors, alongside Ahmed Samir, Co-chairman of the Trading and Logistics Committee at EJB Egyptian Junior Business Association, held a panel discussion, concluding the event with their insights into the solutions presented by the teams and reflecting on their potential to drive innovation across manufacturing in Egypt. It’s incredible to witness the progress that the MADE Teams have achieved over their journey in the program - from ideas to concepts to MVPs and finally, navigating and testing the market. Special shout-out to our partners who dedicated their time and expertise to support the teams along the way: Fab Lab Egypt, San3a Tech and Aspire Consulting and Training. Show your support in the comments for the MADE entrepreneurs, and get in touch if you’d like to learn more about their work and connect with them! #enpactMADE #EmpoweringEntrepreneurship #SustainableManufacturing
