We are incredibly proud to have been honoured with the prestigious Platinum Award earlier this week during a ceremony at Jumeirah Emirates Towers. This accolade recognises the Club as one of the 25 most distinguished non-profit organisations under the Ethraa Empowerment Program by the Community Development Authority (CDA). The Platinum Award is a testament to the Dubai Hurricanes' 25-year journey of fostering inclusivity, community spirit, and athletic excellence. As we reflect on this incredible milestone, we are reminded of our unwavering commitment to promoting sports as a unifying force within the local communities. Over the years, our club has grown to become more than a sports organisation - we are a family united by shared passion and purpose. We’ve worked tirelessly to integrate sports such as rugby, netball and cricket into the lives of people across Dubai, building an environment that celebrates diversity, empowers individuals, and creates lasting connections. As Eid Al Etihad draws near, it’s a moment to reflect on unity, resilience, and progress - values that are also on show at one of the most exciting events of the season: the Dubai Rugby Sevens! Having attended regularly since 2005, I’m always inspired by the incredible energy and competitive spirit this event brings. This year feels especially meaningful, as Chestertons MENA proudly sponsors the Dubai Hurricanes. This amazing team embodies qualities like hard work, determination, and a sense of community. Watching them take the field this weekend will be a proud moment, reflecting our commitment to supporting not only talented athletes but also the teamwork and passion that define their sport. On a personal level, I’m lucky to have several former professional rugby players among my friends. Their unwavering passion for the game and their dedication to their teammates, both on and off the field, are truly inspiring. It’s a mindset and approach we can all learn from. Imagine applying that same spirit of teamwork, leadership, and shared purpose in our professional lives - it’s a recipe for building something truly enduring. So here’s to an exciting weekend of rugby, great company, and unforgettable experiences. We're so pleased to share our continuing support for the Othandweni Family Care Centre in Soweto, Johannesburg, by facilitating a rugby kit donation from Dubai Hurricanes to the centre's children. The Dubai Hurricanes is an inclusive sports club offering rugby, netball and cricket programmes for all ages and genders focusing on teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. Since 2021, we have supported the centre by upgrading its library, cleaning the children's play area, and donating groceries, school uniforms, appliances, and finances to continue sharing hope with the 90 children at the centre. A big thank you to Dubai Hurricanes for the donation and to Ivan Van Zyl for delivering the donation. We're grateful for the opportunity to keep supporting the centre and the most vulnerable in our local communities.

In our 25th Anniversary season, reading this awesome news highlights our ‘why’. Why the volunteer coaches, managers, medics, kit washers, parents and administrators do what they do.
