The soaring beauty of Najd Al Meqsar in #Khorfakkan was a wonderful context in which to hold our most recent Kalimat Foundation board meeting. A jewel of the ‘Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) – Sharjah Collection’ portfolio, this mountaintop setting inspired rich discussions about how best to pursue the foundation’s mission of spreading #hope and #knowledge. Addressing the group, I underlined our undiminished belief that access to #books and #education can be #transformative, especially for #children facing hardship. We revisited the foundation’s recent strides, such as our global campaigns reaching children from #Gaza to #Greece, and reaffirmed our commitment to serving all children, including those with #visual #impairments, through #inclusive initiatives like ‘Ara’. Books are at the heart of our work to bridge gaps, spark dreams, and ignite possibilities. As we reviewed accomplishments and outlined our vision, I felt so proud of the foundation’s relentless determination to improve young lives worldwide. My deepest thanks to everyone who contributes to making our goals a reality. Together, we remain steadfast in building a brighter future for the next generation.

Creating a dedicated ASSOULINE section in the House of Wisdom in #Sharjah is a fitting tribute to the #cultural and #intellectual discovery that’s in the foundations of this fabulous building and in the pages of the new book, ‘Mleiha: Ancient Treasures of the UAE’. It was a proud moment to see this beautiful volume, a visual journey through the ancient, abiding legacy of #Mleiha, in its rightful place in the House of Wisdom. A collaboration between Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and Assouline, this book seeks to enrich readers by illuminating the #UAE’s heritage and culture and bringing it to vivid life. We want people to connect with our nation’s #ancient past and explore #timeless narratives that speak to us all. The event at House of Wisdom was attended by distinguished guests, including H.E. Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairperson of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority (SCTDA), H.E. Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, H.E. Marwa Al Aqroubi, Director of the House of Wisdom, H.E. Dr. Issa Abbas Youssef, Director General of the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, Prosper Assouline, Founder of Assouline Publishing, and prominent dignitaries and media representatives.
