𝗛𝗥𝗦𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧... Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the HRSE Summit, where the International Coaching Federation - ICF UAE Chapter had a stand and organized complementary speed coaching sessions for anyone who wanted to experience coaching. It was a lovely afternoon spent talking about all things coaching; some people came up to simply ask what coaching was all about, others wanted to know about how to become a certified coach, and many decided to give it a try for themselves. Some of the feedback I got: *Wow! I had no idea coaching was so powerful! *How did you manage to get me to come up with that? *I didn't know I had so many options! *This has been so helpful! As coaches we need to keep raising awareness on what coaching is and what it can do for you. This has been a great initiative; apart from making an impact, we managed to network with other fellow ICF coaches and share our experiences. My gratitude to the ICF UAE Chapter for giving us the opportunity to make coaching accessible to everyone and to contribute in a positive way. Looking forward to many more! It was an absolute privilege to attend a full day workshop subject Strategies for Navigating Difficult Conversations facilitated by Nadine Zeinoun, PCC, and a pleasure to re-connect with Nadine after a long time. We deep dived into the #neurochemistry of #conversations, the significance of conversations in our personal and professional lives, what makes them hard to navigate, and the #softskills and #strategies required to ace tough #communication. Remembering that conversations require at least 2 parties; hence, in real life scenario, we might prep ourselves [or think that we are ready] for tough conversations, yet fall short of navigating them due to: other(s) lack of readiness and #skillset and/or falling short ourself in our own #transformation. It is a process; to be checked and honed, checked and honed, .... so we get better and better at it Appreciate the effort and support of 7D Consultancy and Training team, for bringing Nadine Zeinoun, PCC into town and for the opportunity to meet new people and learn from each other's experience.

10th October is World Mental Health Day, a reminder to prioritise our well-being. I'll be focusing on the 5 ways to wellbeing to enhance my resilience: 1- Being connected: Reflecting on relationships at work and home, evaluating priorities and interactions. 2- Taking notice: Rediscovering the joy of daily walks even though I no longer have a Labrador to remind me ... even if it is raining! 3- Keep learning: Revisiting my piano to enjoy learning something just for fun and just for me. 4- Be active: Luckily number 2 also takes care of this. If it is good for the body it is good for the mind. 5- Give: Investing in the work I do with Mind BLMK (Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes) However you choose to spend the day, I hope it enriches your well-being. #WorldMentalHealthDay #Wellbeing #Resilience

When I discuss #EQ with my coachees, they keep mentioning how empathic they are and how they try to understand the #emotions of their colleagues. However, if you are not aware of your own emotional state how can you understand the other person? It's great to hear that many, if not all, emphasize empathy and the importance of understanding the emotions of their colleagues, a crucial aspect of emotional intelligence is self-awareness. Being in tune with our own emotions is foundational. Without a clear understanding of our own emotional state, it becomes challenging to accurately perceive and respond to the emotions of others. In this HBR article, the author shares three simple approaches to enhance three specific aspects of emotional intelligence: #selfawareness, #selfregulation, and #positiveconnections. If you haven't yet then try exercising: ➡️ Assessment of bodily sensations, ➡️ Cognitive load, and emotional states; ➡️ Strategic breathing exercises; and ➡️ Authentic, intentional acts of kindness and understanding. Being a leader myself for many years I discovered the power of delegation, that is understanding when I needed to be involved and where I could step back. It is easy to get caught into the trap of micromanaging as it is a natural human tendency to want to control outcomes and ensure everything is done perfectly, but delegation when done well not only boosts productivity but also fosters stronger and more resilient teams.
