Anjal Z, an initiative led by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, aims to instill entrepreneurship and innovation in early childhood development. The initiative’s name refers to ‘Generation Z’ in Arabic and to the generations inspired by the late founder of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The High-Impact Program takes place over a period of eight weeks and empowers five growth-stage startups from all over the world to localize their solutions (interventions) across Abu Dhabi and the UAE. These five startups receive intensive growth training and mentorship from leading startup and subject matter experts in addition to an equity-free grant of USD 60,000 (AED 220,000). Anjal Z also engages, through its Youth Challenge, university students interested in entrepreneurship and its potential of solving modern challenges, to come up with innovative solutions to various early childhood development challenges, learning in the process how to take the solutions from idea stage to start-up. Anjal Z is just one of the ways the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority is using data-centric interventions to help broaden capabilities to support holistic child development, develop coordinated and aligned policies and laws, inform decision-making through research, data and evidence and work to transform how people think about and address the needs of young children.
