About us
The Scientific and Production Center “Armbiotechnology” NAS RA was established in September 2010 by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia as a result of merging CJS Institute of Biotechnology of the RA Ministry of Economy, the Center of Microbiology and Microbial Depository of NAS RA. Being the legal successor of the above organizations, the Center functions as the leading organization of the Republic of Armenia in the field of biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, molecular biology, genetics and gene engineering, food and biological safety and environmental protection. The Center’s activity is focused on solving urgent problems in studying microbial biodiversity, obtaining galenic, enzymatic, amino acid, peptide, antibacterial, insecticidal and other biologically active preparations, creating eco-friendly agricultural biotechnologies and metal bioleaching technologies, searching for alternative and renewable energy sources, ensuring ecological and food safety. The main goal of the Center is to contribute all possible efforts to increase the welfare of the population, the national economy, competitiveness, to expand the share of domestic enterprises in the domestic market and to enhance the efficiency of their activities through the introduction of knowledge-intensive and resource-saving technologies.
