✨Bio Mixer Challenge GCBA & IUDPT✨ Last Thursday, August 28th of November, the fifth edition of the year’s Bio Mixer Challenge took place at IUDPT in collaboration with the GCBA. The Bio Mixer Challenge is a one-day, in-person activity where students from science 👩🏼🔬 and business 🧑🏽💼 fields work in teams to develop solutions for real-world problems faced by biotech startups. 🧬 🤝 We are grateful to IUDPT and Ministerio de Desarrollo Económico, for providing the venue and supporting us with their sponsorship and logistics, helping to make this event a great success. 🧬 Thanks to the startups ZEV Biotech and Hellerex , for joining us and co-creating the challenge. 🙌🏼 A big round of applause to all the participants for their brilliant ideas and creativity! ✨ Nucleate Genesis 2024: Final Pitch Recap! ✨ 🎉 This past Friday, we wrapped up our four-month journey with an incredible Final Pitch event, that took place at the Universidad de 'San Andrés'. 🌟 Three dedicated teams of students from different provinces came together to develop novel biotech startup ideas from scratch in the following areas of innovation: HealthTech 💊 - Harnessing the microbiome for human health, AgTech 🌱 - New techniques for lab cultivated food, and ClimaTech 🌎 - Synbio for new bioproducts. Guided and mentored by industry experts, they not only applied their scientific expertise to craft high-value technical solutions and scientific derisking plan, but also built comprehensive business strategies, including market analysis, fundraising and strategic roadmaps for their company proposals. The result 🚀 three project pitches that showcased both innovation and vision. Each team presented a unique biotech startup concept: 💊 Microbiome-T: Redefining the paradigm of SIBO treatment. 🌱 Ligno Bug: Empowering insects to unlock a greener, more sustainable future. 🌎 PigmentaBio: Stabilizing natural pigments for a sustainable future 🤝 This event would not have been possible without the support of Universidad de 'San Andrés' who graciously hosted us, and our sponsor SF500 for allowing the participants to travel from their home provinces to Buenos Aires. 👏 We are proud to highlight the exceptional quality of the judges who evaluated these projects, all of whom are key players in Argentina's biotech ecosystem: Norberto Julian Maggini, Mariana Berenstein, PhD, MBA, CLP and Juan Soria. 🤓 We also had the privilege of hearing from Marcos Pacchiele, CO-founder & CEO at BioMetallum, who delivered an incredibly inspiring talk about his journey as an entrepreneur at BioMetallum and from Juan Pablo Fededa about the new Biotechnology Engineering career and their educational mission at UDESA. 🌟 We extend our sincere thanks to all of our team current team of volunteers, Gustavo Ezequiel Carrizo, MSc, Andrea Larangeira, Francesco De Giusto, Valentina Wandel-Petersen, Marco Mancini, Paloma Ramírez, and also to our past volunteers Luciana Woroniuk, David Maximiliano Sotar Maidana, Anahí Samanta Gambino, Francisco Cercadillo, Milagros Castroman and Sofia Ivana Aramburu, who contributed to make this program possible! 🌟 Shout out to our new comms team! We extend our gratitude to BioSynaptica (Milagros Bürgi, Marcos Oggero and Matías Depetris) for participating as the featured startup, co-creating the challenge with us, and providing valuable guidance and feedback to the students. We would also like to thank Vinculación Tecnológica e Innovación UNL (Romina Joris and Julieta Lottersberger) for providing the venue and supporting us with logistics, helping to make this event a great success.
