🌍 𝗘𝗟𝗔 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁: 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Last week, we successfully hosted the ELA - European Lightweight Association Materials Summit in Helmond, organized by RAI Automotive Industry NL in collaboration with our valued partners A2LT - Austrian Advanced Lightweight Technology and Hightech Zentrum Aargau AG. This summit was initiated under the European Lightweight Association (ELA) umbrella. 💡 Freek de Bruijn shared valuable insights into ELA's mission and its importance for Europe and the Netherlands. A critical discussion point: the lack of policies surrounding lightweight materials in the Netherlands—an area ripe for development. Key takeaways from the summit: 1️⃣ Mike B. (Fontys Hogeschool): Demonstrated the immediate potential of additive manufacturing in the automotive industry, showcasing how innovation is already driving change. 2️⃣ Thomas Hipke (Fraunhofer IWU): Presented groundbreaking research on innovative lightweight materials, with a focus on aluminum. Using advanced foaming and joining techniques, his work optimizes this versatile material for cutting-edge applications. 3️⃣ Thomas Krenke (Innovation Centre W.E.I.Z.): Introduced a transformative approach to mobility through sustainable, lightweight wood construction, paving the way for a more eco-friendly future. 🌱 These insights underscore the importance of continued innovation in lightweight materials for mobility. Eine Studie hat die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der #Leichtbau-Aktivitäten untersucht. Demnach liegt die Wertschöpfung im Milliarden-Euro Bereich. Über drei Millionen Arbeitsplätze beschäftigen sich mit Forschung, Entwicklung und Produktion. Ein genanntes Beispiel ist die #Emobilität: „Die Reichweite von E-Autos lässt sich durch weniger Gewicht oder durch eine größere Batteriekapazität erhöhen. Rein ökonomisch betrachtet, macht der Leichtbau deutlich mehr Sinn, zumal die Batteriezellen meist nicht aus Deutschland kommen und sie hierzulande nur wenig Wertschöpfung generieren.“ Anna Kleissner Die Econmove GmbH hat mittels Input-Output-Analyse die direkten Effekte des Leichtbaus auf Bruttowertschöpfung und Beschäftigung berechnet und die Auswirkungen in der vor- (indirekte Effekte) und nachgelagerten (induzierte Effekte) Wertschöpfungskette dargestellt. Auftraggeber der Studie war das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz, kurz BMWK. 🎯 Final Event of the AMULET H2020 project!   The event was held during the 13th International Trade Fair for Composite Materials KOMPOZYT-EXPO® in Krakow, Poland.   📅We started on the 16th of October, 2024 with the presentation “Overview of AMULET project and results” which was carried out by Annabelle Sion, Head of European and International Programmes at POLYMERIS, the cluster coordinating the AMULET project. 💡 Then we organised two very enriching round table discussions: 💬 "SMEs support through EU projects and EU cluster’s actions" moderated by Annabelle Sion, was focused on SME involvement and EU project support. Among the participants were: 📌Virginie Perron, Project Officer of the AMULET project, talked about the activities of the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) under the I3 program. Who also highlighted the key role of clusters as drivers of innovation among SMEs. Clusters not only provide a supportive ecosystem, but also host innovative companies, form strategic alliances, and direct business support services. 📌Dr. Katharina Schöps, representative of the ELCA European Lightweight Cluster Alliance, presented the role of clusters and cluster networks in supporting SMEs. 📌Andrzej Czulak, Polish Cluster of Composite Technologies and the #Ambassador of the AMULET project presented a local example of activities in this field.   💬 "Advanced materials for lightweight in the future European industrial landscape" moderated by Ricardo del Valle Zermeño, PhD, Senior Innovation Manager at Bax. 🔎The discussion was attended by Carsten Lies from Fraunhofer IWU and Martin Zottler from A2LT - Austrian Advanced Lightweight Technology, who talked about European national policies on advanced materials and the future of materials associations in the EU.   The session concluded with a presentation “Unlocking Potential: Advanced Lightweight Materials Challenges and Innovations in Key Industrial Sectors” by Indira Altynbekova, Advanced Materials Innovation Consultant at Bax, who highlighted the challenges of lightweight materials for the 🧱building, ✈️ aerospace & aeronautics, 💡 energy, 🚗 automotive sector. 📅On the 17th of October, 2024 we continued at the conference zone with the Pitching Session for the winners of the first and second AMULET open calls.
