The Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (acib) replaces conventional industrial processes by new, more ecological and economical methods that are adopted from nature. Therefor acib can rely on 30+ years of experience and a network of 180+ mostly longterm international scientific and corporate partners and 200+ researchers in the multiple disciplines of industrial biotechnology and bioengineering. The acib network meets the needs of of the biotechnological, chemical and pharmaceutical industry and is the preferred partner for competitive research in industrial biotechnology – focused on biocatalysis, enzymes and (pharmaceutical) protein production. acib partners get access to innovative scientific concepts, condensed academic brain power, a think tank for discussion and exchange of technological challenges and the broad methodological expertise required to develop unique new bioprocesses and products. acib’s ambitious research program includes the development of new microbial and mammalian expression systems and concepts, extended innovative applications of biocatalysis and understanding of bioproduction at a molecular and genome wide basis.
