🌟 Day 2 of Vienna Aviation Days at TUtheSky! 🚀 Today, we explored innovative strides towards hydrogen propulsion and tackled the technological challenges ahead. ✈️🌱 🔍 Highlights: • Our EXFAN project: From heat rejection to heat utilization in hydrogen electric aircraft. 💡   • FlyECO Project: Future tech for hydrogen-powered electrified aero engines. ⚙️   • Project MYTHOS - Horizon Europe: Medium-range hybrid low-pollution flexi-fuel/hydrogen engines. 🌍   • Project NIMPHEA: Next-gen high-temp membrane electrode assemblies for aviation. 🔋 📊 The final block showcased innovative solutions for onboard storage, fuel distribution systems, and hydrogen refueling. We are proud to have been able to represent exFan at the ILA Berlin International Airshow 2024 in an insightful session as part of the Climate Friendly Aviation Technologies (#ClimAvTech) cluster, in which 13 research and innovation projects funded by the European Union via #CINEA, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, aim to advance sustainable aviation. exFan participated as part of the "Electrically Assisted Propulsion" projects in a common meeting with the other sister projects such as FlyECO Project, HYLENA Project and MATISSE Project to discuss the opportunities for creating synergies between different propulsion systems (hybridisation) chaired by Ruud Eggels (Rolls Royce Deutschland).

Leveraging innovative approaches, they focus on harnessing waste heat from fuel cells using the Meredith effect to propel fuel cell-powered aircraft, significantly enhancing overall efficiency. 🚀 Throughout the project, #TUWien, is committed to rigorous testing and simulations to validate the concept of the developed propulsion system. As a key member of the board of coordinators, in the capacity of research coordinator, they oversee and guide all project partners in the development and evaluation process, collaborating closely with Advanced Drivetrain Technologies GmbH & CIDETEC. 🔑✨🤝🌐 🛰️💼Established in 2021 with generous funding from the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology (BMK), #TUWien's Research Group for Aircraft Systems, under the leadership of Univ.
