We are excited to introduce our new team member, BENJAMIN SPIEGELBERG, to you today! 🎉 BENJAMIN joined our team at the end of January, taking on the role of Senior Sales Manager. We are excited about our journey together and what we will achieve together! But now let's get to know Benjamin a little better. 😊 What are your plans for your role at AURIMOD? To give hope to chronic pain patients worldwide and provide access to our promising and non-pharmacological VIVO therapy by establishing strategic collaborations and international distribution partnerships. What professional experience have you gained so far? Coming from a clinical background, international MedTech sales has been my passion for almost 10 years – always with companies offering high impact medical devices. From top-grade rehab robotics, to highly efficient clinical documentation, to top-notch auricular Vagus Nerve Stimulation (aVNS). What do you like to do in your spare time? On weekends, you can usually find me in the mountains with my wife or working on old motorcycles – my big passion.

Throwback to last weeks Annual Meeting of the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) in Orlando, Florida! We are happy to share PART 5 in our series on the anatomical basics and mechanisms of action of auricular #vagusnerve stimulation in pain management. What we have already discussed: 1) The Vagus Nerve and the Innervation of the Outer Ear 2) Afferent Stimulation and Activation of Vagal Brainstem Nuclei and the Trigeminal Tract 3) The Activation of the Descending Pain Control Network 4) The Activation of Limbic Structures and Modulation of Pain Perception TODAY – The Activation of the Cholinergic Anti-Inflammatory Pathway Chronic pain is often associated with inflammatory processes. The vagus nerve is not only essential in maintaining autonomic function but is also a mediator of anti-inflammatory effects via the neuroendocrine-immune axis and the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. Auricular vagus nerve stimulation (aVNS) can modulate the immune response. A recent systematic review and meta-analysis of 15 studies (n=597 patients) for instance showed a significant modulation of CRP, IL-10 and interferon (IFN)- γ via non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation. Single studies were furthermore able to show an effective modulation of IL-6 and IL-1ß. Last weekend Stefan Kampusch and Manuel L. visited Munich to participate in the 21st Munich Pain Day, organized by the Neurological Clinic and Polyclinic Munich, LMU Klinikum.   We enjoyed a varied program that addressed important and current issues in pain and headache therapies, including pain in the context of post-COVID19 syndrome, headaches after head trauma, and pain in substance use disorders.   We would like to express our graditude to the organizers of this event, and are looking forward to next year already!   #neuromodulation #painmanagement #chronicpain #vagusnerve
