A study by K. R. Majumder et al. shows that Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty (LHP®) offers patients significant advantages compared to traditional Stapler Hemorrhoidopexy (SH) for grade III-IV hemorrhoids. Key findings: - LHP® is faster: 28.6 min vs 36.2 min for SH - Less blood loss: 6.42 ml vs 12.6 ml - Shorter hospital stay: 18.36 hrs vs 28.40 hrs - Lower pain scores: 3.8 vs 6.8 (12 hrs post-op) - Fewer complications: 2.4% vs 16.7% LHP® offers patients significant advantages in post-operative pain and quicker return to daily activities. Exciting news for women's health! A recent study has shown that the non-ablative LaEvita therapy by biolitec® is safe and effective in treating genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). We’re thrilled to share highlights from biolitec’s Laser in Gynecology International Workshop held on 13.12. at the Malzoni Research Hospital in Avellino, Italy. Highlights of this inspiring event, providing invaluable hands-on experience for gynecologic surgeons: Participants had the chance to observe and practice advanced techniques in hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, colposcopy The training sessions were based on using biolitec®’s LEONARDO® Dual lasers in two fully equipped operating rooms Sessions were led by top gynecologists recognized for the treatment of endometriosis. Keynote Speaker of the event, Prof. Mario Malzoni, Head of the Advanced Gynecologic Endoscopy Unit, shared his expertise with participants from around the world. The event was held under the patronage of the Società Polispecialistica Italiana dei Giovani Chirurghi. A recent systematic review and meta-analysis by Bontinis et al. examined the efficacy and safety of endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) using 980 nm and 1470 nm devices in the treatment of lower limb venous insufficiency. With regard to the treatment of this specific disease, the study shows clear advantages of the 1470 nm laser! Key Findings: - Superior Efficacy: The 1470 nm laser demonstrated better occlusion rates for the great saphenous vein and truncal veins compared to the 980 nm laser, both in the short term and long term. - Both devices – 980 nm and 1470nm – exhibited minimal risks for deep vein thrombosis and other complications. However, the 1470 nm laser showed better outcomes for paresthesia and pain reduction. biolitec®'s LEONARDO® Dual laser offers the flexibility of both compared wavelengths: 980 nm and 1470 nm. In the present context the study emphasizes the enhanced performance of the 1470 nm laser, regardless of fiber type. When it comes to fibers, Bontinis et al. confirmed ELVeS® Radial® fibers showed promise for improved paresthesia outcomes, suggesting similar safety profiles for both systems. Exciting news in venous disease treatment! A recent study has once again confirmed the efficacy of biolitec®'s ELVeS® Radial® fiber. This time the focus was on treatment of active venous leg ulcers (VLU). Taofan et al. highlight endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) of the great saphenous vein (GSV) until below the knee as a safe method. EVLA provides satisfactory results in patients with VLU, the most severe manifestation of chronic venous disease. The study examined three patients with active VLU, all diagnosed with severe GSV reflux. Using an 1470nm wavelength laser and the ELVeS® Radial® fiber from biolitec®, EVLA was performed with tailored energy protocols for different vein segments. The laser energy protocols used were 6 W linear endovenous energy density (LEED) 50 J/cm for proximal until media ATK GSV ablation, 5 W LEED 40 J/cm for media ATK until proximal below-the-knee (BTK) GSV, and 2 W LEED 20 J/cm for proximal until distal BTK GSV. Key findings: • Significant ulcer healing observed in all patients • Reduced Venous Clinical Severity Scores (VCSS) after treatment • No complications reported during 6-month follow-up   The study demonstrates that EVLA of GSV, even extending below the knee, is both safe and effective for VLU patients.
