🚀 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐋𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝-𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐈𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬! 🔋🌍 We’re excited to share the final report of the SafeLiBatt project, which provides a 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for the 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 of 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱-𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘂𝗺-𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 from electric vehicles. With the rapid growth of electric vehicle adoption, a growing number of lithium-ion batteries are reaching their 𝗲𝗻𝗱-𝗼𝗳-𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 in vehicles - but many still have enough remaining capacity for a 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 in less demanding applications, such as battery energy storage systems. While the first paper identified key barriers, such as the lack of performance indicators, this new study focuses on overcoming this challenge, paving the way for second-life LIBs to thrive in the market. This research, conducted within the SafeLiBatt project, offers actionable guidance for repurposing companies to enhance their ability to build successful and circular business models for second-life LIB applications, contributing to the circular economy objectives.🌍 Repurposing end-of-first-life EV LIBs for second-life applications - like stationary energy storage systems - not only extends their lifespan but also supports several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
