Dr. Steffan Datentechnik GmbH, founded in 1990 by Dr. Hermann Steffan in Upper Austria, offers a variety of solutions related to vehicle safety and accident investigation: With PC-Crash, DSD offers a software solution for calculation and simulation in accident reconstruction and traffic accident research. Used in more than 4500 offices, PC-CRASH is one of the leading calculation and simulation programs worldwide. Furthermore DSD issues over 1.000 traffic investigation reports annually, both for courts and for insurance companies and scientific studies. In addition to the main location in Linz, DSD operates two large proving grounds allowing to test a large variety of vehicle and road safety systems with the objective to further improve future road safety. These proving grounds as well as highly flexible testing services are offered to our customers. At the Proving Ground for Passive Safety in Allhaming, restraint systems such as guard rails and concrete guide elements are examined using real crash tests. A highly performant cable system enables cars and trucks weighing up to 40 tons, to be accelerated precisely to the collision speed needed in order to evaluate both, system performance and the impact on the vehicle and occupants. At the all-new Proving Ground for Active Safety, 25 minutes from Linz, Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) are extensively tested. State-of-the-art robotic technology (driving robots and platforms), enable nondestructive testing of modern cars equipped with autonomous safety features. Accreditation as Austria's active safety laboratory for the consumer protection organization Euro NCAP is currently in progress.
