Promoting Recognition of Prior Learning in the European Higher Education Area

Info

The European RPL Network is the envisaged association of national networks at European level working on the subject of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Currently, the European RPL Network finds itself in the foundation phase. The establishment of the network will draw on partners from the already completed Erasmus+-project Recognition of Prior Learning in Practice (RPLiP) as well as on existing national networks from the partner countries. The focus of this networking association lies on the exchange of experiences and mutual learning with regard to recognition issues. This exchange is to be strengthened and institutionalized through peer-learning activities, mutual study visits and individual review visits, as well as through focused conferences. A strategic goal consists in the long-term cooperation of the project partners and the expansion of the network to further partner countries and European institutions. • ✨ Looking back on a successful year 2024! ✨ This year was filled with milestones for the European RPL Network community: ▪️ Formalizing the network and welcoming new members. ▪️ Presenting at major events like the #VPLBiennale in Kilkenny and hosting the European RPL Network conference in November. ▪️ Creating even more opportunities for peer learning and study visits – amongst members of the national networks and between European RPL Network members. What truly stands out is the way we’ve grown together: making real connections, learning from one another, and supporting each other in growing together. Here’s to continuing this momentum in 2025 💡 #EuropeanRPLNetwork #RPL #PeerLearning #LifeLongLearning

𝗔𝗤 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗣𝗟 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 🥇🛠️ Recognition of non-formal and informal Prior Learning (RPL) is a valuable tool for improving the education and employment prospects of individuals from diverse backgrounds and to reduce educational barriers. AQ Austria is proud to be a founding member of the European RPL Network, which is dedicated to raising awareness and use of RPL, and establishing efficient, transparent, and quality-assured RPL procedures in higher education. The Network connects national expert networks, organisations and other entities who are committed to European RPL Network in Europe, focusing on the exchange of experiences and mutual learning with regard to recognition issues. Enhancing the use of RPL is achieved by supporting the network’s members in founding, maintaining and fostering sustainable national networks and by fostering collaboration and peer learning in recognizing prior learning across Europe. 👥🌍 ‼️ More information on the network can be found at: https://lnkd.in/dExFPiEa #EuropeanRPLNetwork #RecognitionOfPriorLearning #RPL #HigherEducation #Networking #LifelongLearning #AQAustria

❓ What can you expect from the 3rd session of the Conference of the European RPL Network? ❗ In addition to a clear vision for RPL as an overall concept, a culture of trust needs to be established to implement RPL. The recognition and validation of knowledge, skills and competences is uncharted territory for many higher education institutions and requires a paradigm shift towards the recognition of recognition, towards an RPL-friendly culture. How this culture can be promoted and how universities succeed in integrating RPL into the life of the university will be presented on the 3rd day of the conference using examples of good practice from three partner countries of the European network.  👉 Registration is open until the 4th of November 2024: https://lnkd.in/edjrBN6h

Thank you Helene Peterbauer for moderating this very interesting and inspiring session last week! I look forward to picking up the need for a cultural change in higher education institutions towards a RPL-friendly culture tomorrow during the 3rd session of the European RPL Network conference together with Boldrino Susanna (RPL Network Austria), Staunton Ciara (University College Cork, Anna Magnea Hreinsdóttir, Ingibjörg Ósk Sigurðardóttir and Lara Hreinsdottir (University of Iceland). 💡 More information on the Conference of the European RPL Network: https://lnkd.in/dNNrgkPW #RPLfriendlyculture #RPL #priorlearning #AQAustria #highereducation
