On my way to #ECR in Vienna and looking forward to the many exciting sessions, such as the AI and cybersecurity session where ill take part in the panel discussion to cover topics such as AI deployment choices and data protection strategies. 💾 If you are a young professional I would highly recommend joining one of the many sessions on the young clubs of the ESR dependent on your specialty/interest. For a comprehensive overview, six young club chairs will present clinical cases of their respective field during the 'Young Clubs Take the Lead' session, 17.30h-19.30h on Thursday! Ill be presenting a cool (imo) AI-assisted case for tumor volume followup. If you are interested in medical imaging informatics and AI, or just want to have a chat about it, you are wholeheartedly invited to our young club event on Friday 18h-20h at the #Birdyard to enjoy a cocktail, first one free!*. 🍸 We have an active young club that is most happy to welcome you! 🚨 New ESR AI Act Statement! 🚨 AI is set to transform radiology & healthcare - but how can we ensure its safe, transparent, and effective implementation? The European Society of Radiology (ESR) AI Working Group has published a new statement: “"Guiding AI in Radiology: ESR's Recommendations for Effective Implementation of the European AI Act". The document analyses the EU AI Act and outlines 9 key recommendations to guide its implementation and application in AI-integrated medical imaging and healthcare practices. 🔎 What’s inside? This statement highlights critical areas such as: ✅ AI literacy ✅ High-risk AI classification  ✅ Data & data governance ✅ Human oversight  ✅Transparency & provision of information to deployers ✅ Quality management system ✅ Obligations of deployers of high-risk AI systems ✅ AI regulatory sandboxes ✅ Post-market monitoring, information sharing, market surveillance 📌 How was it developed? Over months of expert collaboration, leading radiologists and AI specialists from ESR assessed the AI Act, identified its implications for medical imaging and radiology, and developed actionable recommendations to ensure patient safety, innovation, and regulatory clarity. 💡 Why does it matter? With AI becoming increasing used in radiology, clear implementation guidelines are needed to balance innovation with ethical responsibility.
