How does the Global Case Study Challenge help to be prepared for multicultural and virtual collaboration? Recently, I participated in the educational journey with the Global Case Study Challenge program based on real-world cross-cultural scenarios. The female-led virtual team is driving a future-oriented movement of global, conscious, and sustainable thinkers and leaders. Co-founders Anna Zinenko, Barbara, and Eithne work with universities worldwide. I joined the program as an HR professional with a multicultural background. The very well-detailed case study focused on the challenges of merging two large multicultural companies that experienced difficulties in communication and collaboration based on different decision-making processes, attitudes to hierarchy lines, and learning and development approaches. The objective? To work together on a complex, real-world project with team members from diverse countries using virtual collaboration tools. Throughout the process, we tackled challenges like managing time zones, adapting to different communication styles, and leveraging various persuasive models for solving a case and case study solution presentation. The incredible two-month journey ended, and I want to say thank you to my team members Shubham Pandey from India, based in Germany, Imani Moore from California, based in Switzerland, and Pedro Oliveira, who lives in Portugal. And also incredible and determined leaders and organizers, Anna, Barbara, and Eithne. I highly recommend this program for student groups and professors looking for additional practical and educational tools.

  • 🎤 Why do so many meetings or workshops fail? 🤔 🗣️ Because too often, people walk out without clear deliverables and outcomes. No next steps, no ownership—just another hour or day gone. This past week, Eithne Knappitsch and Dr. Barbara Covarrubias Venegas facilitated an intense and rewarding 3-day workshop in Brasov, co-designing a virtual training and facilitation program. As experts in learning design and facilitation, they worked with the group on several work packages of the program Global Teachers for a Sustainable Future. 💡 One key lesson? Great facilitation starts with clarity. Here’s what they focused on: 🔹 Defined deliverables – What exactly needs to be achieved? 🔹 Clear responsibilities – Who does what, by when? 🔹 Engaging structure – How do we keep people focused and contributing? Meetings and workshops shouldn’t just be well-organized conversations—they should be engines for real results. This is exactly what we help facilitators achieve through their training programs. If you want to level up your virtual facilitation skills, feel free to reach out! They’d be happy to share more about the program. 🚀 #Facilitation #Leadership #VirtualTraining #MeetingsThatWork

  • Adapting on the Fly: The Key to Great Facilitation, Speaking, and Leadership No matter if you are a speaker, a coach, a trainer, or a leader running meetings—one skill makes all the difference: the ability to adapt on the fly. You can prepare, plan, and structure a session down to the last detail, but when reality unfolds, agility is what truly counts. Right now, Dr. Barbara Covarrubias Venegas and Eithne Knappitsch , part of our GCSC management team, are in Brașov, Romania, on the third day of our second transnational partner meeting with 15 colleagues from 13 countries. Together with Adne, they facilitated a session on virtual learning design and our trainer-trainer program. They had carefully prepared activities—a huge thanks to Anna Zinenko for the collaboration! But as the session evolved, they realized that sticking to the original plan wouldn't serve the group best. Letting go of activities they had spent so much time on was tough, but adapting was the right choice. And the outcome? In just three days, they achieved so much more than expected. How can you build the mindset, toolset, and skillset to adapt on the fly? ✅ Develop a flexible mindset – Be ready to pivot without frustration when things change. ✅ Have backup tools – Keep a toolbox of alternative exercises, formats, and approaches. ✅ Read the room – Whether in-person or virtual, observe engagement levels and adjust accordingly. ✅ Embrace co-creation – Let go of control and work with the group, rather than just delivering to them. A big thank you to all our partners for this fantastic experience! #Facilitation #Leadership #Training #LearningDesign #Adaptability

  • Have you ever played bingo—or rather, vingo—during a workshop? 🎲 Yes, bingo with a V—a version tailored for virtual learning and facilitation! Right now Eithne Knappitsch and Dr. Barbara Covarrubias Venegas , they’re in Brașov, Romania, working with 15 outstanding educators from around the world to design a framework for developing global competencies in students. Yesterday morning, despite knowing each other quite well from working together on a virtual course, Eithne and Barbara played a customized bingo game—designed with a purpose. 🔹 The game featured statements related to virtual learning and facilitation, which participants had to match with each other. 🔹 It wasn’t just about fun; it helped us connect on a deeper level, reinforcing psychological safety and trust. 🔹 Even in long-term collaborations, structured activities like this uncover new insights about team members and strengthen the way we work together. 💡 Why does this matter? Even if you've worked with someone for years, intentional moments of connection are crucial. They build psychological safety, foster engagement, and strengthen collaboration. 👉 What’s your favorite go-to activity to help participants connect and get to know each other better? congratulations to the winner Beni ❤️🎉👀

  • 🫂💡 The early birds... sometimes just wait. 😱🫣 The second transnational meeting of the Global Teachers for a Sustainable Future project is happening in Brașov, Romania! 🌍 Our colleagues Eithne Knappitsch and Dr. Barbara Covarrubias Venegas are here with 15 international experts from 12 different countries to explore virtual facilitation and learning experience design. Over the next two days, they will dive into: 🔹 How do we create engaging & inclusive virtual learning spaces? 🎯 🔹 What makes a train-the-trainer program truly effective across cultures? 🌎 🔹 How can we balance structure & flexibility for deeper learning? 🤹 🔹 What are the biggest virtual facilitation challenges—and how can we solve them? 💡 As the GCSC, we are co-leading a workshop to develop a training program that equips facilitators with the skills to design and deliver outstanding virtual learning experiences. And while everyone is eager to get started… breakfast, it turns out, is not. 😅 We thought it opened at 7, but it only opens at 8. Sometimes, the early bird just waits. #VirtualFacilitation #LearningDesign #GlobalTeachers #Collaboration

  • 🌍 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀. SURPRISE; SURPRISE .... Considering decades of research on high-performance teams - we always like to say that these are no longer secrets. But, as we also like to state "We don't have a KNOWING GAP, we have a DOING GAP." - right? While teams have become more diverse, dispersed, and dynamic, the core fundamentals of effective collaboration remain constant. 🤝 This is also what we teach our 500 learners from across the globe this fall - to enhance their virtual leadership and collaboration skills. Here's how to enhance teamwork in distributed settings: 1 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Clearly define goals and purpose. Remote teams thrive when each member understands the 'why' behind their 'what'. 🎯 2 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Establish roles, norms, and clear expectations. In a distributed team, clarity in structure keeps everyone aligned and accountable. 🛠️ 3 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁: Provide the right tools, information, and organizational support. Remote work demands robust support systems for seamless collaboration. 💻 4 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁: Cultivate a unified approach to work. Encourage open communication and shared values to bridge the physical distance. 🌐 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼-𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱; 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺. 🌟 𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧 – 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗺 𝗜 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴? 🌟 Timing is everything. But have you ever stopped to consider if your words are truly necessary at the moment? 🤔 our #GCSC management team Eithne Knappitsch Anna Zinenko and Barbara Covarrubias Venegas design and deliver facilitator certification programs where WAIT is always an integral part! We believe it is even more important to be considered in an online environment. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 we 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿s - It creates space for reflection 💭 - It encourages participation from quieter voices 🗣️ - It leads to more thoughtful, impactful contributions 💡 WAIT isn't just about keeping quiet. It's about recognizing the diverse thinking styles in your team. Some people speak to think, processing ideas out loud. Others need time to think before they speak, formulating their thoughts internally. This diversity is often linked to the introvert-extrovert spectrum. Extroverts might naturally dominate discussions, while introverts prefer to observe and reflect. WAIT helps balance these dynamics, ensuring all voices are heard. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱. In our daily worrk, pauses can feel uncomfortable. Yet, it's in these moments of silence that magic often happens: - Introverts get time to process and contribute - Extroverts learn to listen more deeply - New ideas emerge from quiet reflection - Group dynamics shift towards more inclusive participation We've seen firsthand how implementing WAIT can dramatically transform a meeting. Teams become more collaborative, discussions more nuanced, and outcomes more innovative. What's your experience with balancing different communication styles in meetings? 👇
