We want to help ensure that those who are not lucky enough to be healthy can receive treatment as quickly and easily as possible. 💙 That is why one area of our product research is aimed at focuses is for the youngest and smallest among us. Children generally have smaller, more delicate veins, and if venepuncture s carried out with too large a the needle diameter is too large , it can cause damage to the veins and be painful. A child in pain is a source of great concern for parents or caregivers, which can quickly lead to an unnecessary escalation of the situation. 💙 In many cases, it may be sufficient to take a capillary blood sample if only a small volume is needed for clinical chemistry, haematology or glucose testing. Depending on the age and size of the patient and the underlying conditions - e.g. whether it is a newborn or a small child, but also an overweight or underweight person, etc. - a small incision or heel prick with a lancet is made or a finger puncture is performed. 💙 The drops of blood are then passed through the integrated spatula transferred into the capillary blood collection tube via the integrated scoop. The puncture is quick and does not require the use of a tourniquet, i.e. the collection can also be carried out more quickly. Depending on the patient, it is important to choose the smallest possible blade or needle size in order to minimize pain as much as possible. Mediscan is the largest sterilization site in Europe ✨ Due to the increasing demand for sterilization services, the Greiner Bio-One subsidiary Mediscan has expanded its capacities and ceremonially opened the new extension at its Kremsmünster site on November 13. 👉 What exactly does Mediscan do (for you)? ✔️ Mediscan sterilizes the medical product solutions manufactured by Greiner Bio-One before they are distributed worldwide. ✔️ Demand from third-party customers are playing an increasingly important role. The medical sector, but also food, automotive and electronics industries make use of Mediscan services - like for example to sterilize food packaging or to refine products of plastics and semiconductors. ✔️ Mediscan currently generates around 70 percent of its turnover from demand from third-party customers. Ilke Panzer, CEO of Greiner Bio-One International GmbH, and Saori Dubourg, CEO of Greiner AG, underlined the importance of Mediscan for both companies.
