As Q1 begins to close out, we'd like to celebrate two kick-off meetings we recently had for the STORE (Shared daTabase for Optronics image Recognition and Evaluation) project funded by the European Defence Fund. Our team started with the official kick-off in Elancourt, France, meeting with other partners contributing to the STORE project and then continued on to our own internal kick-off in Ottobrunn, Germany. As Ramadan has begun, we have been monitoring various media posts to see how the conflict in Gaza affects the holy month celebrated by the Islamic World. To no surprise, Gaza is currently the number one location mentioned in conjunction with the topic of Ramadan for the past 3 days. Media posts have ranged from the realities of celebrating Ramadan in conflict zones this year to calls for ceasefire around the world. As we keep monitoring the situation, we'd like to extend a warm Ramadan Mubarak to all our followers who observe this time. #ramadan2024 #situationalawareness #osint

Check out one of the latest updates from the CRiTERIA Project, a project where a number of our teams are continuously contributing. In this video, you can learn more about the human security filter, which addresses a critical gap in the humanitarian dimension of border security, namely the well-being of migrants. The human security filter centralizes the humanitarian dimension of border protection, including the identification and addressing of migrant-specific vulnerabilities. We're incredibly proud of our team members who contributed to the European Space Agency - ESA's Global Development Assistance (GDA) Project, which concluded earlier this month. Our data fusion platform for multi-source intelligence played an integral role in identifying land-grabbing activity in war and conflict zones. Find out more about team contributions and reviews in the article below. Pictured (from left to right): Lynn D., Paolo Crippa, Jennifer K., and Gerhard Backfried #earthobservation #osint

2024 has fully kicked off, and we're excited to expand our team! Our first new hire of the year is Daniel Schuh, who is joining us as a Senior Integration and System Engineer. Before joining, Daniel worked at Frequentis AG in Vienna for more than 15 years as a Leading System & Integration Engineer for mission critical systems in defence. During this time, he collected domain expertise in air defence, military air traffic systems, digital towers and situational awareness systems while also leading small teams of system engineers and coordinating collaboration with third-party companies. Having worked closely with different military organizations and attended many exhibitions in the defence sector around the world, we're thrilled to watch him bring his understanding of the market and customer to life. #MeetOurTeam #oneHENSOLDT #hiring

Last month, the European Union (EU) awarded a contract to a consortium led by Telespazio to conduct feasibility studies on whether the Copernicus Earth observation constellation can be used for defence tasks. As a proud member of this project, we will be contributing to a geo-information infrastructure for EU institutions and Members States that will provide new capacities for synergising with other European and national programmes and initiatives. We're very excited to announce that the work on EO4SECURITY has now begun! EO4SECURITY is a European Space Agency - ESA project being led by e-GEOS in which our teams are key contributors. The project focuses on the prevention of environmental crimes, which are significantly increasing. EO4SECURITY is designed to effectively prevent and detect those activities that can undermine the preservation of a clean, safe and sustainable environment. Our teams focus in the project is to integrate open source intelligence data with daily satellite observations and historical analysis of specific areas to help develop a state-of-the-art algorithm which provides timely information on suspected environmental regulations violations, such as illegal mining. Happy New Year! While we're excited to start 2024 with all that it will bring, our teams were also busy up until the final days of 2023. For example, our Research Team visited Brussels for not one but two events before the holidays. The first was the 10th Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung-Symposium on European Civil Security Research, and the second was the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security's Disaster Resilient Societies Annual Event. Thank you to both for hosting us and closing out our 2023 on a high note! #securityresearch #bmbf #CERIS
