💬 OUR PUBLIC CONSULTATION is open: Announcing the Nature Climate Standard (NCS) - a new Carbon Crediting Standard for Nature-Based Solutions! SILVACONSULT, Tree.ly, and Waldklimaschutz Schweiz have partnered to develop the Nature Climate Standard (NCS) – a new carbon crediting standard for nature-based carbon projects designed to meet the stringent requirements of the ICROA Carbon Crediting Endorsement. Alongside the standard, we are introducing two methodologies: Impact Improved Forest Management (IIFM) and Forest Nature Reserves (FNR). By harmonising these methodologies under the NCS, we aim to create a unified framework that sets a benchmark for quality in European nature-based solutions, starting with forestry. Although this organisation has not been fixed yet, we are releasing the NCS and its methodologies for public consultation. ❄️ How much do you know about the hidden Climate Protection Potential at Vienna’s Doorstep? Thank you, to everybody who was joining our exclusive, educational forest walk last week! To close out the year on a high note, we had the privilege of experiencing the Vienna Woods from a fresh perspective on December 3rd this month. Together with forestry expert Alexander Vilsmeier and Alexander Mrkvicka, head of nature conservation and protected area management for the City of Vienna, we explored the many dimensions of this vital forest ecosystem on the outskirts of #Vienna. 🪵 This forest faces significant challenges from climate change, yet it remains a cornerstone of Vienna’s resilience. From storing carbon and reducing urban heat to protecting against floods, this forest is a natural ally in tackling the challenges posed by the climate crisis. 🎒 During our walk, we gained valuable insights into how the forest actively supports #climate action. We also learned how targeted projects help preserve and enhance this invaluable natural resource for the future. Thanks to Maximilian Venhofen, Maximilian Fargel, Benjamin Klauber, Max-Johann Rechberg and of course Christian Lutz, from the Tree.ly team for joining our group, explaining the carbon sink potential and how our project maintains the ecosystem services of this forest for future generations. 🌱 Growing Together: Equality and Diversity in Forestry 🤝 Only 8 % of Austria’s forestry employees are women, revealing a gap between ownership and active involvement in forest management, as over 30 % of the country’s forests are owned by women. But this is starting to change, and we want to contribute to fostering this shift. 🌐 Last week, one of our forest experts, Marie, attended the "Equality and Diversity in Forestry: Changing the Image of Forestry" conference in Portorož, Slovenia, organized by Fem2forests and WOFO - Women in Forestry International. The event focused on empowering women in forestry, building international networks, and discovering innovative ways to involve young women in the sector. 💪 🏛️ The conference offered engaging discussions on education focused on equality and diversity, highlighting the importance of women's inclusion in the forestry sector. Participants were inspired by people and organizations from diverse countries, including insights from places like Catalonia and Mongolia, as well as Germany, where the German association Frauen im Forstbereich e.V. shared their experiences. 🎙️  The second day concluded with a field trip to the Karst region, where Marie and the other participants explored post-fire restoration efforts, planted trees, and even spotted a praying mantis along the way. 🔥 🌲 🦗 🚀 By fostering equality and inclusion, we can shape a future where opportunities are truly open to all, embracing the unique strengths of each individual. 🌳
