🌟 Honoring Innovation in Hospitality! 🌟
The 6th edition of the Award for the Most Innovative Hotel, powered by hotelkit in collaboration with AEDH-Asociación Española Directores Hotel , showcases pioneering efforts in digitalization, automation, sustainability, and artificial intelligence, highlighting how innovation can drive both operational efficiency and social responsibility in the hotel industry. This year’s award attracted inspiring entries that redefine what it means to innovate without necessarily requiring massive investments.
In product innovation, ILUNION Alcalá Norte (Madrid) led with its unique, inclusive hotel model focused on accessibility, sustainability, and profitability. Integrating people with disabilities into its workforce and leveraging technologies like AI, ILUNION Alcalá Norte achieved a 12% boost in sales and profits, with an EBITDA of €40M, and earned the EFQM+600 certification. With 41% of staff having some form of disability, this model has gained international recognition for its success in innovation and social responsibility.
In the process innovation category, Ilunion Alcalá Norte again topped the charts, implementing AI to enhance products and services and create economic and social value. The impact is projected to reach €320,000 in 2024 and €1.54M by 2025. Through AI training, 1,800 people have gained skills, supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8 and 9.
For organizational innovation, El Rey Moro Hotel Boutique Sevilla was rated highest by the jury, with tools to manage administration, sales, and maintenance tasks, including a robot that updates stock and purchase prices. This two-year project has streamlined communication and helped mitigate the effects of rising raw material prices on margins.
Finally, in marketing innovation, Grupo Blaumar was recognized for its Virtual Hotel Eco-Tour, an immersive 7-minute video available in four languages that highlights its facilities and environmental initiatives. Every Thursday, guests are invited to explore the hotel’s eco-friendly practices around water, energy, and waste management.
