🌍 Exciting Kick-off Meeting for #PERMANET: A New Horizon in Sustainable Rare Earth Elements (REE) Innovation! 🚀 🔋This week, the headquarters of our partner Tecnicas Reunidas in Madrid hosted the launch of PERMANET, an innovative #EuropeanProject aimed at building a Sustainable REE Innovation and Supply Network. Milan Grohol, Policy Officer at the European Commission, and Carolina Rodríguez, Project Officer for PERMANET and Project Advisor at European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), welcomed the consortium and presented the guidelines expected from Europe for the project's implementation. 🎯 This ambitious initiative will encompass the entire #valueChain of Rare Earth Elements (REE) Permanent Magnets (PM), driving cutting-edge advancements in #sustainability, #innovation, and supply. The consortium is made up of 33 partners representing relevant actors in the REE ecosystem: companies, universities, clusters, RTOs and SMEs. 💡 The project is funded by the European Commission and is coordinated by Técnicas Reunidas with the support of Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC).  ➕ Additionally, our partner Leonore Development is part of the consortium and is responsible for refining and innovating sustainable REE from mineral deposits and mining tailings. 🔑 Curious about the project? This week we visited the Chinese Academy of Sciences NIMTE research center in Ningbo, it was impressive to see the existing process competence and available equipment. Especially the 3D printing and analysis capabilities surprised me - really interesting for METALPINE, Alexander Walzl from the Montanuniversität Leoben and Christian Pfeifer from DISTECH Disruptive Technologies GmbH/Distech GROUP. All delegation members had several individual laboratory tours, also in the department for Magnetic Materials where interesting research on lunar soil was conducted. The visit is organized by CAS and the FFG Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mbH under the lead of Alexander Pogany/ BMK and Technology Office Austrian Embassy Beijing.
