REMINDER: Webinar "Self-contained, low-cost lab-on-a-chip cartridge for multiplexed MDx and food analysis" on January 22nd! (From our demo case Using Aptamers to Improve Biosensors for Food Safety and Public Health Monitoring) Wednesday, 22 January, 14:00-15:00 CET NextGenMicrofluidics unites the expertise of 21 companies and research institutions across the entire value chain to develop microfluidic lab-on-a-foil systems. It offers services for the design and production of these systems, catering to businesses ranging from start-ups to major industries. As part of the H2020 project, this collaboration was tested through 5 demonstration cases. Our #webinar will focus on the outcomes of Demo Case 1, where partners worked together to create a molecular diagnostics assay for the simultaneous detection of SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza, as well as the use of aptamers to identify food contaminants. The project scaled up the production of various components for biochemical and molecular diagnostics assays and microfluidic systems, such as sensor chips, foils, surface functionalization, and spotting. These developments led to a simulation-based assay design and microfluidic and sensor channel library, both easily customizable to the needs of different assays and readout platforms, fluidic structuring of low-autofluorescence materials such as COP and novel materials such as biodegradable thermoplastics and self-powered fluidic actuation with disposable micropumps and microvalves. George Tsekenis of Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens and Jörg Nestler of BiFlow Systems GmbH will present this exciting work. Learn about the technologies developed and how companies can benefit from them! Beyond the end of the project, the Microfluidics Innovation Hub (MIH) provides a single entry point for customers to access a wide range of cutting-edge microfluidic technologies from Europe’s leading research centers and companies.
