This year, we've launched a new employer branding campaign. The idea: What does work-life balance mean to our current – and future – employees? Having time to go skiing, spending quality time with their families, or engaging in local traditions. For today, we created a unique motif: Krampus and Perchten (or Peaschtl, as we say) are ancient Alpine traditions. Costumed figures, often demonic or mythical in appearance, parade through villages during the Advent season to ward off evil spirits and celebrate the transition from darkness to light. At Montanwerke Brixlegg, we believe that innovation and tradition go hand in hand. Rooted in the heart of Tyrol, we carry forward the values of our community – craftsmanship, sustainability, and respect for the past – while leading the way in circular copper production with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry. Now we want to hear it from you: What are traditions in your region ahead of the holidays and the end of the year? #ChampioningCircularity #UpcyclingCopper

Sometimes, the best way to innovate is to look back to how things have been done historically. That's why we've replaced the fossil gas that removes oxygen in the anode furnace with logs from certified sustainable forestry. 🪵 What makes this approach more sustainable than using gas? Since December 2023, we have been SURE-certified and can trace the wood back to where it comes from: The tree trunks we use are sourced locally in Austria and Germany to minimize transport emissions, and the areas are reforested, maintaining biological diversity. 💡 Did you know that the term "sustainability" and its guiding principles originated in forestry? More than 300 years ago, a German scientist published a book advocating the conservation, growing, and use of wood in a continuing, stable, and sustained manner. This was the first documented use of the German term for sustainability, "Nachhaltigkeit". At Montanwerke Brixlegg, we are increasingly using solar energy to reduce our CO2 emissions and to become less dependent on rising energy costs. ➡️ Every year, we make project-related investments to increase energy efficiency and the share of renewable energy. 🔆 Our latest investment: a translucent roof for our storage area with solar modules from an Austrian manufacturer. 🔋 In 2023, a total of 1,098 MWh was generated by our solar panels. 💡 These measures help us achieve our own sustainability goals and help our customers achieve theirs. Our lower Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduced by the PV system result in lower Scope 3 emissions for our customers when they purchase our copper. Win-win! More information about our sustainability measures will be available soon in our sustainability update.
