Over the weekend, we exchanged news at the 40th anniversary of Kanta-Hämeen Tuoretuotete, a product of Kanta-Häme.
The day started with a lively trade fair event, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by the Finnish team of chefs. The event was topped off with an energetic performance by Irina!

And finally, here's a tip: the Finnish national cooking team collects the biowaste from their training kitchen in Naturabiomat's AirBox® compost bin. 😉

Viikonloppuna vaihdettiin kuulumisia Kanta-Hämeen Tuoretuotteen 40-vuotisjuhlatilaisuudessa asiasta – ja asian vierestä!
Päivä alkoi vauhdikkaasti messutapahtumalla, jonka jälkeen päästiin nauttimaan Suomen kokkimaajoukkueen loihtimasta hienosta illallisesta. Tapahtuman kruunasi vielä Irinan energinen esitys!

Der österreichische Aktionsplan für eine nachhaltige öffentliche Beschaffung (naBe-Plattform) sammelt Beispiele über die praktische Umsetzung von nachhaltigen Beschaffungsprojekten. Diesmal im Mittelpunkt: NATURABIOMAT®.

In Österreich ist bereits eine ähnliche Regelung verankert, nach welcher sehr leichte Kunststofftragetaschen - besser bekannt als Obst- und Gemüsebeutel - nach OK Compost Home zertifiziert sein müssen und deren Wandstärke weniger als 15my betragen darf. Auch muss der Anteil an nachwachsenden Rohstoffen mehr als 50% betragen.

A similar regulation is already in place in Austria. According to which
very lightweight plastic carrier bags - better known as fruit and vegetable
bags - must be certified in accordance with OK Compost Home and with thickness of less than 15my. The proportion of renewable raw materials must be more than 50%.
Das EU-Parlament hat heute über die Einigung zur EU-Verpackungsverordnung #PPWR abgestimmt. Demnach müssen zukünftig bestimmte Verpackungsanwendungen in der EU zwingend #kompostierbar sein - darunter #Aufkleber auf Obst und Gemüse, #Teebeutel und #Kaffeepads. Damit wird sichergestellt werden, dass viele dieser Produkte, die fälschlicherweise zusammen mit Bioabfällen entsorgt werden, in Kompostierungsanlagen vollständig abgebaut werden.
❔ Are you familiar with the difference between compostable and biodegradable?
🌱 Biodegradation is a natural process in which microorganisms break down organic matter into water, CO₂, and biomass, so-called mineralization. Compostable items can undergo biodegradation under specific environmental conditions, including both industrial facilities and home composting piles. However, compostability encompasses more than just decomposition. Certified products must also meet stringent criteria for ecotoxicity, regulated metals, and other potentially harmful substances.
💡 The norm EN 13432 requires a minimum of 90% disintegration within 12 weeks under industrial composting conditions. Many materials surpass this requirement, decomposing even faster. In Germany, the Biowaste Ordinance facilitates the use of biowaste bags for the easy collection and proper disposal of organic waste in the dedicated bins. Our DIN𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘴 certification for Biowaste Bags guarantees the required complete disintegration within a maximum of six weeks, while also fulfilling all EN 13432 requirements.
