Our colleagues dr. Heiner Denzer and Víctor Zúñiga Burgos are participating in the 1st Annual Meeting of the STELLA Horizon EU Project at BOKU, Vienna. If yesterday was focused on discussions about the project’s progress and key developments, today they are exploring the upcoming activities and strategies that will help accelerate the implementation of new solutions. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐤? The project focuses on developing next-generation tools for early detection of quarantine pests and pathogens, ensuring safer and more sustainable agricultural practices across Europe. Because the risks of climate change and global trade are rising, the accurate and rapid pathogen detection is more critical than ever. Our common goal? To give farmers, researchers, and regulators reliable, real-time data for successful pest management. #pests #planthealth #quarantinepests #pathogendetection #HorizonEurope

In Part I of our 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 – 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐓𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 series, we discussed the critical role that localized weather data and precipitation play in effective farm management. In 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐈 we shift our focus to another crucial weather variable - temperature.🌡️ Temperature impacts frost risk, crop growth, disease pressure, and spraying efficiency. Without site-specific data, farmers risk yield loss, lower quality, and increased costs. 📖 Read now to learn more about the cost of spraying inefficiencies, frost damage and protection, dew point, and the importance of site-specific temperature 👇 https://lnkd.in/dxjEEYuF #metosbypessl #IoTSolutions #weathervariability #temperaturecontrol #frostprotection #dewpoint #sprayingsolutions

In the STELLA Horizon EU Project, Use Case Pilots (UCPs) are the bridge between research and real-world impact. Spanning across six diverse regions in Europe and New Zealand, these pilots test AI-driven pest monitoring and early warning systems in various crops—from vineyards in France to olive groves in Greece. The success of STELLA depends on its ability to deliver practical solutions that meet the needs of end-users, including farmers, foresters, policymakers, and researchers. A few weeks back we had an honor to participate at Lindsay’s Dealer Meeting in Costa Rica, where we had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and discuss the future of agriculture and irrigation technology. It was inspiring to see how aligned we are in our vision: 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲。 From our early beginnings, we’ve been dedicated to advancing agricultural technology. Now, as part of the Lindsay Corporation family, we are more motivated than ever to push boundaries and accelerate this evolution. Because the future of farming depends on intelligent, data-driven solutions. #Datadriven #SmartAg Gottfried Pessl

Is it really over? We know, we know. We always say, "This was the best show yet!" But we really cannot hide our excitement over how great GCSAA was. The response to all the novelties, especially our METOS TSM, has been nothing short of incredible. The halls of the San Diego Convention Center were jam-packed with turf experts and enthusiasts, all eager to learn and share their experiences on what works best. From optimizing irrigation to reducing resource waste and improving course playability. The solutions are there. You just need to pick the one that best fits your needs. We could go on and on about what was shown and discussed, but if we had to draw only one conclusion, it is this one: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧. A big shoutout to everyone who stopped by our booth and to all who expressed their excitement to continue the conversation beyond San Diego! We cannot wait to see where our collaboration will take us.⛳️

Farming is already risky, but did you know that up to 70% of that risk comes from the weather?💡 In Part I of 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 – 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐓𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡, Guy Ash talks about how big of a difference weather can make. Rainfall can vary a lot from field to field, which affects crops, nutrients, and overall farm decisions. With climate extremes on the rise, traditional weather forecasting falls short, making in-field IoT devices essential for real-time, site-specific data. Want to learn more? Check out the full blog and stay tuned for Part II, where we’ll cover another important factor in farming - temperature!🌡️ ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d85A22j8 #metosbypessl #WeatherVariability #WeatherForecasting #IoTSolutions

In the fight against crop diseases, 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 is emerging as a game-changer. By capturing data in various spectral bands, satellites can detect early signs of stress in plants—often before they’re visible to the human eye. 🛰️ Through the STELLA Horizon EU Project, satellite data is being integrated with machine learning to develop precise pest detection models.
