We're thrilled that our INo Trident 2.85 hotend played a key role in advancing this impressive master's thesis at Brno University of Technology! It's exciting to see our technology driving innovation in robotic additive manufacturing. Proud of this collaboration! #3DPrinting #Innovation #MastersThesis #FacultyOfMechanicalEngineering
Master's Thesis Successfully Defended! I'm thrilled to share that I successfully defended my master's thesis this summer at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Brno University of Technology in the Department of Reverse Engineering and Additive Technologies (RIAT). My research focused on developing hybrid technology for the production of polymer lattice structures, specifically BCCXYZ type structures made from PLA filament. This achievement was made possible thanks to the fantastic collaboration with Plasmic and 3Deposition, whose support was essencial throughout the project. The hybrid technology combined forming and full melting processes. Some rods in the lattice structure were formed at lower temperatures, maintaining the filament’s mechanical properties, while others were fully remelted for added strength. This dual approach resulted in a 68% increase in production speed and enhanced the structural integrity of the final products compare to structures made only with full melting MEX technology. The entire process was carried out using a 6-axis KUKA robotic arm equipped with Plasmics's INo Trident hotend and the D_FINE extruder by 3Deposition, which enabled precise control and efficient production of complex geometries. Thanks to the collaboration with 3Deposition, I optimized the extrusion techniques for maximum quality. Mechanical tests and crystallinity analysis confirmed that the mechanical properties of the formed rods were comparable or better to the fully remelted rods, while significantly increasing production efficiency. The next step will be the production of lightweight molds with nonplanar geometry. A huge thanks to Ústav konstruování, 3Deposition and Plasmics for their incredible collaboration and support! #MastersThesis #BUT #FacultyOfMechanicalEngineering #RIAT #3DPrinting #PLA #Polymer #Plasmic #3Deposition #HybridTechnology #BCCXYZ #KUKA #ReverseEngineering #AdditiveManufacturing #Robotics #ThesisDefense
