Glad to see our AUTOMATED ELECTROCHEMICAL FLOW PLATFORM out in Angewandte Chemie: https://shorturl.at/nMQL8. While automated batch and flow reactors are established for high throughput experimentation in the context of thermal chemistry and photochemistry, the development of electrochemical platforms can be problematic because of cell miniaturization challenges in batch and difficulties in designing effective single-pass flow systems. In collaboration with Merck Healthcare, we have designed and implemented a new, slug-based automated electrochemical flow platform. This platform was successfully used in the synthesis of a library of Proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs) analogs (44 examples). Furthermore a Design of Experiments (DoE) optimization for an unsuccessful library target was performed in an automated way by the platform, resulting in a 5-fold increase in reaction yield. Another fruitful collaboration between Merck Healthcare, University of Graz and RCPE - Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering GmbH. Special thanks to Eduardo Rial Rodríguez, Jason Williams, David Cantillo, Gabriele Laudadio from our team in Graz and Hans-Michael Eggenweiler and his team at Merck Healthcare: #Automation #Electrochemistry #PROTACs #CRBN #flowchemistry #pharmaceuticals

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀! This week we introduce Simone Eder, one of the inspiring minds behind our success! “My name is Simone Eder. I have a master’s degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Natural Sciences. I currently work as a Principal Scientist and Group Leader at RCPE in Area III: Next-Generation Manufacturing. I chose a career in science because I enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team, facing new challenges and creating innovative solutions every day, rather than doing routine work. I believe that working in science offers you a great opportunity to constantly learn new things and get in touch with interesting, inspiring people. You stay up to date in your working area, can create new fields of expertise and eventually grow and make a real difference – not only to the scientific community but also to society. Currently, I work in the field of personalized manufacturing, specifically in 3D-printing medical and pharmaceutical inserts and implants, as well as oral tablets. During this work, we developed 3D-printed personalized vaginal inserts to treat stress urinary incontinence, also known as pessaries, which are an easy and straightforward treatment strategy. This work yielded a nomination for the Houska Prize – the greatest private award for application-oriented innovation and research in Austria – showing the relevance of our work to female patients. In the future, I hope we will develop other innovative products that fit the requirements of specific patient groups, such as women, children, and elderly people making their lives easier. Eventually, it would be groundbreaking to develop platform technologies that allow for tailoring the treatment strategy specifically towards the genetic characteristics, lifestyle, and preferences of individual patients.” Stay tuned to discover more of the innovative minds driving our success! #MeetRCPE #PersonalizedMedicine #3DPrinting #WomenInScience

I am happy to announce that University of Graz and RCPE - Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering GmbH have signed a licensing agreement with Sigma-Aldrich for the commercial development of our spinning cylinder electrode reactor (SCER) technology. This reactor concept permits scaling electrochemical transformations from the milligram scale to kilogram quantities without the need for re‑optimization of reaction conditions. The reactor can operate both in batch and continuous mode, can process slurries and handle gas evolution. The technology has been demonstrated for the electrosynthesis of several key API intermediates, including adrenosterone and noroxycodone. 👉First disclosure of the reactor with several applications here: https://lnkd.in/dX_gS-8n 👉Case study with Pfizer: https://lnkd.in/d2w_yHdB 👉Case study with Merck/MSD: https://lnkd.in/dZqUbsW4 👉Case study with Eli Lilly and Company: https://shorturl.at/yLM1E We are looking forward to seeing this technology commercialized and put into the hands of synthetic organic electrochemists!
