A series of amendments to the Romanian Companies Law 31/1990 came into force on 6 December 2024. The changes primarily aim to simplify shareholders' meetings and eliminate excessive formalities pertaining to articles of association across all types of companies, marking a significant step towards streamlining corporate regulations. However, their proper implementation will require the careful consideration of other special law provisions. Schoenherr expert Jan Kupčík recently authored Modern Competition Law and Economics, a book that integrates legal and economic perspectives on today's key competition issues. Presenting the 48th edition of our data protection newsletter with summaries of last week's #GDPR decisions by the #ECHR, #CJEU, #VwGH, and #BVwG. The #ECHR ruled on secret surveillance and press freedom. The CJEU issued two judgments on (i) the information obligation under the GDPR and (ii) the collection of biometric and genetic data by the police. The BVwG has published more than 15 judgments, inter alia on Google's #reCAPTCHA, #SmartMeter, #ColdCalling and #fines under the #GDPR.
